wrong display name

i joined spotify a while back never had any problems but i just noticed when i logged into my spotify desktop client that it is showing my display name as a facebook account name i had disabled about a year ago and i never signed up for spotify via facebook and never linked my facebook to my spotify but still it somehow managed to pull this display name and profile picture off a facebook account that had been disabled long before i signed up for spotify and i'd like for it to be removed since there is no reason this display name and profile picture from a disabled facebook account should be on my spotify i mean the email i used for spotify and the disabled facebook account were totally different if anything i would have expected the display name and profile picture from the facebook that uses the same email as my spotify to show up but its not so that's my problem if anyone could explain how it happened and how to fix it that would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance

Hmmm.. thats weird, just to make sure, have you tried the steps in this post here?

when i go to Edit > Preferences > Social Network it just says "Connect to Facebook" and nothing more i've never connected spotify to any of my facebook accounts

I can see that you have inadvertently created a second account.

Please ensure that you are logging in with your username (not your email address) and that should get you logged in to the right account.

i do log in with my user name i dont use an email address to log in i've tried before (when i blank out on my user name and try to use an email address) but ofcourse email address does not work and i must use my user name to log in so i'm afraid that is not the case

It is possible you are seeing cached data in your client if you have accidentally created a duplicate via Facebook.

What is your Spotify username?

i went in and deleted the cache from the appdata folders for spotify still showed the same things even did a fresh install and its still there the username i log in with is thenab0303 which is what it should show but instead it shows aika tousley with the profile picture when i use the same exact login info on the spotify site it shows my name as thenab0303 on there but on my desktop client and app on my phone it shows aika tousley

It's just showing as your username thenab0303 on your public profile at least. 😉

I can see on our system that there is no longer a connection between Facebook and your Spotify account. Does everything appear correct when you log in to our web player: https://play.spotify.com?

no when i went to the link you provided for the webplayer it still shows me as aika tousley

thank you whatever you guys did either you guys managed to fix it or my old facebook was finally permanantly deleted making it so it couldnt pull any information from it but either way glad to see its back to normal 😄

Hi,

I am experiencing a similar issue.

I have no facebook account linked to the spotify account when I check preferences. But a difference display name still appears in the top right.

I have logged in and out multiple times and I have done 2 clean uninstalls of Spotify, but nothing has worked. I have contacted support and am waiting to hear back from them. Please let me know if you have anymore advice.
