Ads for new releases covering app

Ads for new releases covering app

So I just noticed some new "feature" where Spotify android app presents a full screen Ad for some random album from the New Releases section. This covers the app and you have the option to click it or to dismiss it. I'm a premium user since many years and an do not pay them money to be spoon fed **bleep** ads like this. I contacted the Support/chat and they basically told me to f*** off, nothing they can do and no refund. They just told me to dismiss it. This always happens, companies get so large they start to overstep their boundaries and all you can do is accept it or go somewhere else.

Is anybody else getting these?

Hey @Supergregg, I am so sorry that customer service was ride to you! Will you delete and reinstall Spotify? What Android version are you running and on what device?

I just got an update for Spotify yesterday. I'm running Android Oreo on a Nexus 6p.

Think this is a new "feature" and not a problem with my subscription. Unfortunately I did not get a screenshot of it. It was a new release recommend for me, like a layer over the main app right after it started. It was an Ad disguise as a recommendation as it was an album I have never seen before and I did not recognize the artist.

I have this exact same issue. Ads with  the system for the system are still ads. I also find that some of the spotify created playlists have announcers, probably to make it feel like radio. Except if I wanted ads and announcers (audible ads), then I'd be listening to radio for free or just downloading frm free music and using a media player instead.

I've also been a premium subscriber for about as long as I can remember using the app. I pay to get away from ads.
