After android 6.0.1 update spotify won't open

After android 6.0.1 update spotify won't open

I just got done updating my Galaxy S5 with the latest android update and now Spotify will not open. If I press on Spotify, it acts like it is doing something (screen goes blank) but then will return to my home screen. All I know is it stopped working after the update and I have already tried uninstalling and then reinstalling. Really sucks because I pay for premium and it's going to waste. Anybody have any solutions?

Kinda off topic, but everytime I update my phone, I always do a hard reset and reinstall everything. That way all the junk files get erased.

In your case, looks like you need a clean install, which means deleting everything Spotify has created in your phone:

1. Uninstall the app from phone by going to 'Settings' -> 'Apps' then scroll to the Spotify app and tap on it. Once loaded press 'Uninstall'.
2. Using a file manager make sure that the below folders are deleted if they still exist:

  • /emulated/0/Android/data/com.spotify.music
  • /ext_sd/Android/data/com.spotify.music
  • /sdcard1/Android/data/com.spotify.music
  • /data/media/0/Android/data/com.spotify.music

You will lose all preferences & offline playlists in doing this.

I'm having the same issue. I've tried unis tallinn and re-installing and the screen just goes black when I open it and I have a message saying 'No storage area found - check settings'. I've never had an issue with this before and I always use spotify on my phone. I'm lost without it.

My issue after the update is that I can still open the app, but it crashes after few seconds of playing. I can'tell leave it open using my phone to do something else, even if the screen goes to the standby mode, spotify will stop on work.
I did uninstall it and I cleared everything with the file storage, still it is not solved.
This is a real issue, I need spotify!!

Problem still has not been fixed and Spotify will not open! This is frustrating!

Android 6.0 has a different permit structure and Spotify wont run properly (huge bug almost gotzilla size). You hace to downgrade to 2.6.0.813 or lower it has pretty much the same functionalities as the last update. The main diferente is that it works. I dont consider this piracy as I am paying for the service.
