My Question or Issue
I've got a play list that I use for my reoccurring alarm in the morning. Recently, it's only been playing for 10 seconds and stops which is an issue if the beginning of the song is a bit quiet so I miss it altogether. If I look on the phone screen, it shows that the alarm is "ringing" and I can swipe right/left to stop or snooze, but there's no sound.
If I set a second reoccurring alarm shortly after the first one (e.g. 10 minutes), then that plays no problem, but it's the first alarm of the morning that fails.
I did a full factory reset of my phone to address another issue, but this problem persists.

Bit the bullet and did a factory reset. All working now.
Hey @MissedAlarm-LostJob,
Welcome to the Community and thanks for reaching out!
Have you tried setting other playlists / albums / songs as an alarm to see if the same issue would occur? Also, could you try the following: change your network (for example, if you're normally using Wifi, turn it off and activate mobile data instead) and set up a test alarm to see if the song will stop playing after 10 seconds.
You can also try downloading a playlist and setting Spotify in offline mode, then select the downloaded playlist as a ringtone for your alarm.
Let us know how it goes.
Cheers!
I tried downloading the playlist and also switching off the wifi but it still doesn't work.
I cannot replicate the issue during the day (i.e. the phone has recently been in use), even though I extend the do-no-disturb schedule. It seems that it only happens after the phone is not being used for an extended period of time. If I schedule a second alarm a few minutes after the initial one with all the same settings / playlist, then it works just fine. This morning, I had a missed call (but the phone didn't ring audibly because it was in do-not-disturb mode) about 2 hours before the alarm and the alarm worked fine this morning.
I have also tried changing the Battery Usage to Unrestricted but that didn't work either.
Hey there @MissedAlarm-LostJob,
Thanks for your reply.
Could we ask you to check also if there are any pending updates for your Google Pixel phone, as this could well be a device/firmware related situation. If yes, then please make sure you run them and see if the behavior of the alarm will normalize after that. If everything is updated and your alarm is still not working as expected, you can also try troubleshoot your phone's clock app following Google's guide here.
Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.
No, there are no pending updates. And I also tried all those steps in Google's guide plus factory reset my phone as well.
Since I cannot replicate it at any other time, only when the phone is been out of use for several hours, I'm thinking that it might have something to do with it "going to sleep"? It seems I had some success once when I left the phone charging overnight and then Spotify played more than 10 seconds but I'll try this again to see if I can replicate. I changed the Battery Usage setting on both Clock and Spotify from 'Optimized' to 'Unrestricted' but no luck.
Hey @MissedAlarm-LostJob,
Thanks for your reply 🙂
We tried this on our end, but couldn't replicate it.
Would you mind letting us know if this is only happening on your phone or on a different device as well?
On another note, take your time to test what you mentioned and let us know how it went.
Keep us posted.
