So in the new Spotify Widget I am not able to see the song/album cover... it's just a blank empty space but it functions, if I click that empty space where the playlist cover is supposed to be it takes me to that playlist. The only issue is the cover does not display. Please help me fix this.
Hey @budgetsnowman,
Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.
This is odd behavior. We'd suggest you reinstall the app on your device to see if you notice any difference. By doing that, the app can be up-to-date, and you can make sure the cache is not leading to this inconvenience. You can find out the steps to do it here.
If the above doesn't do the trick, we'd like to gather as many details as possible. Is this happening over WiFi? 3G/4G? Both? Do you notice any difference if you switch the internet connection you're using? Give it a try and let us know how it goes.
Does this happen when playing a specific song/playlist? If not sure, it'd be awesome if you could check. If yes, please share with us the link to the content with which this behavior starts.
Lastly, did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event, such as an OS update? If yes, please send us the details.
Keep us in the loop!
Thanks for the reply, but this still didn't fix my issue. I tried reinstalling the app after deleting the com.spotify.music file and still didn't work.
And this issue happens in both WiFi/Mobile network 3G and 4G. And this issue happens to all the playlists on the widget I tried playing some different playlists and and still it didn't work.
When my phone got the Android 13 GO update it used to be fine but like after a week I think there was a Spotify update and the issue began.
Thanks for the details, @budgetsnowman.
Are you by any chance using an SD-card? Keep in mind that corrupted cache on it can cause different issues with Spotify's performance so if that's the case we recommend removing it and giving the app a clean reinstall once again.
After that, try using the app without it for a little while to see if there'll be any difference.
We'll be on the lookout 🙂
I don't use a SD Card...
Hey @budgetsnowman,
We suspect there's a setting on your phone that's blocking the widget from displaying the cover. Can you please reach out to Samsung support and check with them?
Let us know how it goes.
This has also been an issue on two pixel 7s I've owned.
The accepted answer here seems to be the issue. Related to what appears to be a pointless permission check. Spotify widget devs will need to remove it.
