My Question or Issue

I can no longer add a playlist to the home screen. However, existing links on my home screen still work. When I click on the "three dots" option on a playlist the "add to home screen" option is no longer available; however, this does seem to be available for individual albums.

Hi, friend! Have you been able to find another trick? Spotify figured out that trick and in an update removed the ability to keep doing that trick.

I had exactly the same problem. Until Friday of last week I was able to add albums/playlists to my device home screen, then the option vanished. I was unaware of this thread, so I contacted Spotify's help desk (ha ha), and over a period of twelve hours I was told by Spotify it could be my device rather than an issue with Spotify, and they then took me through the whole process of clearing data and caches, and carrying out a hard uninstall/install, in the process of which I lost everything that I had already added to the home screen. I told them I had an older tablet and that it worked okay on that. They asked me to update the version, and it promptly lost the option. I was eventually told that they carry out temporary "improvements" and, although they still didn't say as much, I realised that the "improvement" was responsible. And here we are, with 40+ users reporting the same issue. Somehow I get the distinct feeling that EVERY SINGLE "improvement" that Spotify carry out is certainly not to the benefit of the end users - the people who pay the subscriptions. For the life of me, I can't see how any of their "improvements" work to the benefit of anybody using the app. If anybody is monitoring this -PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR SUBSCRIBERS!!!

Deprecated means to express disapproval. I seriously doubt any user has done so. What you mean is dumped.

We must claim him on social networks as well, on instagram, Twitter. I returned to Spotify for two reasons, and one of them is the shortcuts to the home screen. And now they withdraw this function? Unacceptable.

Sounds great..but we must not forget that

EVERYONE SHOULD SUPPORT THE "SUGGESTED FEATURE" THREAD

...as dozens of people complaining here doesn't count at all, if they don't claim it over there as well, because...well...why actually? For reasons I guess.

I found this on Reddit, maybe it will serve someone, not me because I don't use Spotify on the computer, only on my phone.

the same problem is happening to me!

I used to enjoy the "add to homescream" feature a lot

It would be helpful if you voted to ask for that function to be reinstated. At the beginning of the thread there is a post where the link to vote is.

You have to enter that link and vote 🗳 to get Spotify to return the option of "Add  to home screen"! I'm Disappointed in Spotify

Hi folks!

In addition to checking out the thread provided by @EfrainIvan, feel free to try out @Chrishan29's workaround:

  1. Play the playlist in question so that it appears in your Recently Played.
  2. Close Spotify, then find the app either in your app drawer or on your Home screen and long press it - a list of the stuff you played recently (including your playlist) should pop up.
  3. Now long press on the playlist and drop in to the desired location.

Cheers!

Spotify He discovered that trick and disabled it.

Hello! Already that trick was discovered by spotify and they disabled it, it seems that Spotify took seriously the issue of removing the shortcuts. Spotify played dirty for us since many of us paid for that option, many of us chose Spotify because it made our lives easy with that option. We are disappointed.

This is the link where they should vote 🗳 to try to get Spotify to return what they stole from us.

Me too

the feature is no longer available also for albums... 😔

Hi everyone,

We've reached out to our tech folks who have confirmed that with the deprecation of this feature, the ability to add albums to your Home screen, as well as the Recently Played items that used to pop up when long-pressing the app have also been retired.

The aforementioned workaround is no longer functional, so for the time being it's best you head to the idea about bringing this feature back and showing your support.

Hi, i have the same problem.

Device: Galaxy S20 FE, one UI 5 (android 13)

Spotify version: 8.7.90.544

Thank you!

It's unbelievable that this brilliant feature is gone. I don't understand WHY someone could ever think that it's a good idea to retire a functional feature? Why to make something worse and less functional? Hope that the feature will be back very soon!

Guess what? It doesn't work! Is there anybody that works for Spotify that isn't a dumb ass?!

Nope, if you're not then you simply don't qualify
