[Android][Playlists] Have search jump to correct spot in the playlist

[Android][Playlists] Have search jump to correct spot in the playlist

Plan: Premium
Device: Samsung Galaxy S22

When I do a search for a song within on of my playlists, it filters the list to only show the results. I want a way that once I have found the song in my list, I can see where in my list that song falls (like song #465 out of 1,000)

I can do this easily on the Windows version of Spotify and want the same feature on the Android App.

To see this working in the Windows version:
1. Select a Playlist
2. In the search field, type your seach criteria
3. Click on the song to select it (make sure to click in the middle as you don't want to select the song to play!)
4. Click the X in the Search field to close out the search.

The screen will then display all the songs in the list again showing the number next to each song. It will stay on the selected song and jump to that section of the list.

I want that capability on the Android App.

Unfortunately, the Spotify Android app does not have a built-in feature to show the position of a searched song within a playlist. However, there are a few workarounds that you can try to achieve this:

  1. Sort the playlist by name or date added: If you sort your playlist by name or date added, you can quickly scroll through the list to find the searched song and see its position based on the alphabetically or chronologically sorted list.

  2. Use a third-party app: There are third-party Spotify apps available that offer additional features not available in the official Spotify app. One such app is "SongShift," which lets you import and export playlists between different music platforms and also shows the position of the searched song within a playlist.

  3. Create a custom playlist with the searched song: If you frequently search for specific songs within a playlist, you could consider creating a new playlist and adding only those specific songs to it. Then, you can easily see the position of the searched song within the custom playlist.

I hope one of these solutions helps you find the searched song's position within your playlist on the Spotify Android app.

I'll be barking up the wrong tree without updates!

I understand the Spotify app does not have this feature.  I am asking for it to be added.  None of your workarounds are acceptable either.  I already have my listed sorted in the order I want.  I don't want to change the order.  None of the Third Party apps actually do what I want - most of them are related to re-arranging the list, and again, that is not what I want.  These are from custom play lists.  I just want the app to get me to the right spot in the list.
