My Question or Issue

Today the progress bar on my Spotify stopped working but only when playing podcasts. When I play a podcast it just sits on 0.00 despite the podcast playing. Then when it finishes it just loops back to the start regardless of the queue. This is destroying the functionality of the app for me as I queue podcasts at work where I don't have access to my phone to change the track/podcast.

 

It is a premium account, I have tried the device reboot and clean reinstall and nothing has worked. Music plays fine and progress bar works but for podcasts it's broken.

Absolutely the same for me and it's rageous as when I miss a bit and need to rewind, it goes back to the start.

Having the same problem, since Friday, I think? Maybe an update.

It's really annoying, I can't listen to my bedtime podcast. I often stop mid episode. Hopefully they acknowledge this fast.

I am having the same issue as well. Only on podcasts does this occur.

Clearing cache, app data, and fresh install does not resolve the issue.

I am having the same. However, when car mode is turned on, the progress bar works correctly (found that out this morning). So it's a bug. When I contacted support last night, they wanted to delete my account and create a whole new one.

Yeah, seems this is a commmon and new issue. Is anyone from spotify able to see this or attempt to resolve it? I have been having circular conversations with the support team and their only solution has been to contact the phone manufacturer. Which is an obvious case of cant be bother so I will pass the buck.

Same here, definitely not just your issue. OnePlus 10 Pro, Android 13. Very irritating.

Try to get support to do anything/understand your issue. That's frustrating

okay people! I think I have a solution thanks to some of the higher ups at spotify support. Log out of your account in the phone and log back in. In my case, I logged into a test account that they sent me and then logged back in to mine. The test account worked on my phone and then my account worked afterwards. Im not sure if the fix was just logging in and out again or the test account but I would recommend everyone try to log out and in.

I even reinstalled the app and the problem remains.

I have a Fold 5. My account is free but never had a problem until this morning.

No matter what it would stay at 0.

I updated my phone and Spotify app and restarted phone couple times.

Even clear catch and clear data. No matter what it didn't fix it.

 

Then I just followed what it said at the top and all I did was log out ans back in and now it works again!

This worked. 

 

Well now that signing out ans back in the progress bar works again. But before I was having issues when I was on the list of different episodes of the podcast when ever you hit play on that page the video would just pull up into full screen and start playing. But now when I hit play the video/podcast starts playing but I then have to drag up to even see the video.

Every time you close the app and open it again the progress bar stops working again but the other problem starts working again. I can hit play and it will automatically pull up the podcast abs start playing like it should. But then like I said I lose control over the progress bar.

So I have to go sign out and then back in just to get the progress bar back but lose the part where I press play and it automatically pulls up the podcast ans starts playing again.

WTH! I rather have the progress bar then having to do an extra step just to drag up the podcast.

 

Please fix these problems!

yeah this issue comes back if the app is closed and re-opened

They told me to create a new contact and lose all my daily mixes, discover weekly, and release radar since it would need to transfer data but can't save the account. Makes no sense if it works in car mode and my account works fine on web app and windows application

Logging out temporarily fixed the issue for me. I hope they can fix this soon as I would not want to make a new account

And just like that it's working for me again. Didn't even need to log out, let alone delete my account and create a new one. Yay?

Well now it won't even play anymore.

And I tried logging out and back in trick again and now won't even log in. Keeps on saying try again.
