My Question or Issue

Spotify app partially re-opens after closing in the Recent Apps menu if headphones are unplugged from the device or if the device begins charging via USB or the charging cable is disconnected.

If any of the above actions are performed after closing the app, the Now Playing notification will appear in the notifications tray, and will usually report a track as playing, even when it isn't, and will often not report the correct track (i.e. will report a track different to the track that was playing when the app was closed, usually the one that was playing when the app was last opened by the user). The notification cannot be dismissed, and will only dissappear if the device is restarted or the app is "force stopped" from the System Settings > Apps screen. The Spotify app will not appear back in the Recent Apps menu, despite the undismissable notification.

Issue is intermittent, but seems to happen most consistently when any of the above peripherals are connected/disconnected immediately following closing the app.

I have tried reinstalling the app, and it is not installed on an SD card (I don't have one capable of having apps installed on it), and the issue still persists. I am unwilling to reset my device, as this is the only app that has this issue, and I don't have a full backup of all my apps and settings to restore it to if something goes wrong.

Let me know if there's any other troubleshooting I can do, or information I can provide to help, I'm a Web/Android/Unix/Windows dev so I'm happy to get down inside the system and poke around if it would be helpful 🙂

Hey @ravensand.

Thanks for reaching out to us about this, and apologies for the delayed reply!

If you're still experiencing this issue, we'd be glad to help you out 🙂

Could you check if there's an Android update for your device?

If it's fully updated, then could you see if you have the same issue when logging in with your account on another device?

Looking forward to hearing back from you!
