Anyone voice controlling spotify via Android with success?

Hello guys, doing some research online, I am seeing that you can voice control spotify via an android phone but the reviews are not great. Is there anyone here using voice commands on an android phone to "search spotify and play a specific tune" with success please? Thanks.

I just tried it with Google Assistant and here are my results:

What I said:

Play Stay from Zedd on Spotify.

What I got:

Play Stay from that on Spotify.

What I said:

Play Port of Morrow from The Shins on Spotify.

What I got:

Play Port of Morrow from versions on Spotify.

Even if it got the track right it just opened the app and inserted the name of the track and the artist into the search bar in the app 😟.

What I said (while I was listening to music):

Play the next song.

What I got:

it started playing the next song 😮.

(I wasn't expecting that)

Conclusion:

Search Spotify and play a specific tune didn't work for me but playing the next song is at least a beginning 😃.

I'm pretty sure that this will work sometime in the near future, voice recognition is evolving a lot, and will get more compatible 😃.

Absolutely.  There is a new app called Melody Personal Music Assitant that supports Spotify voice control for Android, assuming you have a Spotify premium subsription. It works beautifuly and is Bluetooth compatible as well.  You tap the microphone icon and say "play..." just about anything - song, artist, album genre, mood activity, public and personal Spotify playlists.  It also controls iHeart radio stations using your voice too.  I love it, use it all the time.

Thanks. Can you tell me what range you get, meaning how far from your pc can you send the command please? Also, would you know if I can try both that app and spotify before having to purchase anything?

Melody is a mobile app.  It works on iOS and Android, but not your desktop.  Not sure about range, but it seems to work well in noisy environments like the gym and outdoors.  The app is free, you just need a Spotify premium subscription.

Ohh, I get it now, you play spotify on your phone and use the app to for voice commands. I am looking into another aspect, playing spotify on a pc and controlling it via my android with voice commands.

I use ok Google a lot on my android phone. I have an app on my phone called Car home ultra. so as soon as i turn my car on. this app recognizes that my phone and my car stereo are conected and switches the phone app on. Then i can say "OK Google" Then say "Play Queen on Spotify". Spotify then opens on my phone and and after a few moments random queen songs will start playing on my car stereo. Loving it. Works every time. not a single button pushed.

Thanks for sharing. I think I may have gotten something workable, it's call braina app. I can control the music on my pc via the phone app via either voice or typing. It's pretty consistent so far.

I can't get Spotify to link to OK Google.  Any suggestions?

Yes! There’s an app called Melody on the Android Store as well as iOS that allows you to voice control Spotify - songs, albums, artists, playlists. Works great!

I know it's an old topic but I did not find these answers anywhere . I have figured out that you can actually voice control spotify and here is a short list which are successful commands : 

Resume song / music

Pause song / music

Play next song / music

Play previous song /music

!!! Play music / song is not working somehow
