My Question or Issue

Hello,

after last update a few days ago in Nov 2024 application started crashing. If open app after some time and try to do something, scroll down, touch on something etc. it crashes. I can normally listen and simply manage the app via earpods but if I return and open app it crashes. It didn't happen before. I tryied to reinstall the app 2 times but didn't help. What else can I do? It's really annoying. Is there anyway how to rollback to previous stable version?

Hi there @ZdenekM74,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you please provide us the following:

  • Is this only on your Galaxy phone? If possible, try testing this on a different Android device and see if the same happens.
  • Does it happen only under specific circumstances - for example when the screen is locked, when a Bluetooth device is connected, etc.?
  • The exact Spotify Version you use.
  • A video of the behaviour. If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.

With this information, we’d be happy to investigate.

Keep us posted.

Hi,

thanks for reaction. Affected version is 8.9.96.476. I was really hard to reproduce and find any pattern of circumstances. But noticed that app crashed just after opening when it was closed (not left) before. Another clue could higher battery consumption if I compare it with other streaming apps. So I think there is a bug in this version which causes instability.

Fotunately yesterday was relesed a new version 8.9.98.488. It seems to it was fixed and app is stable again. It would be nice if you look inside your internal docs and give me some confirmation of fixed bug. But I don't insist on it. The result and stable app is more important for me.

I had the same problem with the 8.9.96.476. update. I also updated to 8.9.98.488. but for me it didn't get fixed.

Hey @TiRED47,

Thanks for posting in the thread!

If the issue persists for you, would you mind sharing in case you've tried any troubleshooting steps so far so we can avoid repeating any of them?

It'd be very helpful if you could also let us know some or all of the details that are requested by @Joan in this post.

Many thanks and we'll be on the lookout 🙂

It seems the new 9.0.0.487 update fixed the problem for me!
