Autoplay won't switch off on 'other devices'

Autoplay won't switch off on 'other devices'

Samsung Galaxy S10 with Echo Dot and/or Sonos speakers

Android

My Question or Issue

Autoplay is 'off' (see image).

When I play an album with Listen on This Phone, music stops at the end of the album. All good so far.

When I play the same album with Listen on either my Echo Dot or Sonos speakers, a load of random tracks are added at the end of the album.

Surely that can't be right? (I want it to stop automatically because it is playing lullabies to my son at bedtime. I don't want it playing all night.)

Hi @DarrenReynolds,

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community!

Unfortunately, as of recently, the Autoplay setting is turned on automatically by default for any connected device (as has been acknowledged in this thread); so it is currently an expected behavior for Autoplay to occur from connected devices, regardless of the Autoplay setting on your phone's Spotify app.

I recommend adding your +VOTE to this Live Idea regarding an option to toggle Autoplay on/off across all platforms and devices; the more votes an idea gets, the likelier it is that Spotify will implement it, and you can read more about how feedback on ideas reaches Spotify here.

It will also be useful for you to Subscribe to the idea by clicking the three dots next to its title; that way, you can be sure to be informed of any relevant updates.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and have a good day!

Thanks for this but the idea you linked is actually something else. The idea is for the settings page to be restored to the Web browser edition of Spotify. That is not what I need. I don't use the web browser version. I use the Android app. I need the Autoplay setting to work the same on connected devices as it does on my phone. It is clearly a bug.

Hi @DarrenReynolds,

Thank you for your reply!

This is an expected behavior, as Autoplay is turned on automatically and by default for any connected device. If you want to play music on your phone without connecting to another device, you can still toggle on/off the Autoplay option.
