Bug with Last.FM username field

Bug with Last.FM username field

Since I can't seem to find a Bug thread (or any thread specific to this issue in here), I'll post a new one here. Simply put, if you add an extra space after your username in your Last.FM login field, it will count that space as part of your username when submitting it to Last.FM's authentication servers.

Please let me know if you would like any additional information on my specific phone, build of Android, or anything else of relevance.

*edit* The trailing space at the end of your Last.FM username produces a login error.

Why do you think that is a bug? Surely every login/password field should be passed on exactly exactly as typed? You will see an error in your notification bar when it can't connect because the login failed.

Coming from over a decade of experience in the IT industry, I can assure you that while sometimes spaces may be accepted at the end of passwords or usernames, it is as far from standard practice as authentication gets. Trailing spaces will and should almost always be eliminated (by the software) at the end of any username field for certain (passwords are generally handled differently) - just go and try to log into any other site/service/etc with a trailing space on your username and see if it borks up the login process. I can assure you that it won't likely do so.

Edit: removed comment due to lack of knowledge on topic.

Absolutely, gprocess. However, the issue comes along with the space not being visible, as there's no cursor. The desktop client suffers from the same problem. Again, I'm not sure if this would count as a bug, but it could certainly be a QoL fix (assuming it's not too difficult for the Spotify devs).

Fair enough. Please use the online contact form to ropert this. If you get an automated response directing you back to the community or to the help pages, please reply to it by email and you will hear back from one of the team shortly.
