Cannot Connect over WiFi

Cannot Connect over WiFi

Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 and I am nearing the end of my Spotify Premium trial and need to make a decision about whether I want to continue paying for this service or not.

 

At the moment, I often have difficulty getting a connection over WiFi. It is extremely frustrating. Sometimes it works. Mostly it doesn't (WiFi connection working fine in other apps). It behaves like this both on my home and work networks.

 

As a workaround, I turn off my phone's WiFi and use the mobile data connection to search for the artist or playlist I want, then once I have found it and started playing, I switch on the WiFi and the music seems to continue streaming OK.

 

Hopefully there is something simple that can be done to fix this, otherwise I'm definitely not going to bother paying for a subscription.

Please read the guide linked below for details on the most common issues and how to fix them. Usually a clean install is the first step to take and resolves most of the usual issues; the guide details the steps to take to ensure a full 'clean installation' is achieved - This includes checking redundant folders, removing offline devices and a REBOOT!

If that's still not working try rebooting your router and opening the ports recommended in the guide.

Thanks Daniel, I followed the guide and have spent hours trying to do the Port Forward thing. I am pretty sure I have interpreted that correctly but I'm still having intermittent issues. I give up. Thanks anyway.

It definitely sounds to me like an issue with your phone... if the app streams ok on mobile data; wifi should be the same unless your phone is somehow causing issues.

Check you phone WiFi settings and make sure data saver's are off. Also check your power saving options to make sure they are disabled.

Thank you. It must be a phone issue. Sorry for blaming Spotify. Other services seem to work fine though so I'll probably have to switch. Thanks for your assistance anyway.
