My Question or Issue

Hello, when I'm connected to mobile data Spotify isn't working. The songs are not loading and nothing is happening. The connection is good, I have fast Internet access and other apps are working perfectly. Mobile data is activated for Spotify and the data safer is turned off. When I'm on WiFi Spotify is working normally. What can I do to fix it?

Hey @Max190,

Thanks for reaching out.

As a first step, we'd recommend checking your phone's settings and making sure that the Spotify app has access to mobile data. If you need a detailed guide on how to do this, it's best to reach out to your device's manufacturer.

Let us know how it goes.

Ho, thanks for the quick response. Spotify is connected to mobile data, everything is turned on and other apps work fine with mobile data. When I use WiFi Spotify works with no problem.

Hi there @Max190,

Thanks for your reply.

Was Spotify working with mobile data before on that device? Or have you experienced the issue since you installed the app?

This is simple, but if you haven't tried, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the Spotify app by following these steps. Additionally, make sure your device's OS is up-to-date. Additionally, if you have any battery optimization or battery saver options enabled, try disabling them and check if that makes a difference.

Let us know how that goes.

It was working perfectly before . I tried a clean Reinstall but it also did not help. im not sure what to try anymore except for resetting my phonem

Thanks for the response, @Max190.

Would it be possible to test with a different mobile data connection? You could ask a friend or a relative to share data via hotspot from their device to your phone.

We also suggest that you head over to your phone's Settings > Apps > Spotify and check if the app has all necessary permissions enabled under Data usage.

It'd be great if you could also let us know if this started happening after a specific event such as an update of the app for example and if you're seeing any error messages or greyed out content.

Lastly, ask a relative or a friend to log in to their account on your device to check if it behaves any differently.

We'll be on the lookout 🙂

Hi, I checked with a different sim card and mobile connection and then everything was working fine. If I use my own mobile connection it stops working again.

Spotify has all of the permissions to use mobile data in my settings.

If a friend log in with their account on my phone Spotify also won't load any content.

I also asked my provider if there are any data limitations on certain apps and they denied it. So I feel I'm out of options

Thanks for the help

Thanks for the info @Max190!

Have you tried changing the APN Protocol to see if that would do the trick?

  1. Search for Access Point Names in your phone's settings (the option is usually found in Network & Internet > Mobile network, but its location may vary depending on your manufacturer).
  2. Select your current access point and set the APN Protocol to IPv4/IPv6.

It's also worth switching to another access point, if available, or resetting the APNs to the default from the three dots menu.

If that doesn't do the trick, I'd recommend resetting your mobile network settings by following the steps in this article.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

Cheers 🤘

Hi, thanks for the suggestions. I have already tried the reset and it didn't change anything.

I'm right now in a different European country for vacation and I'm using data roaming here. And surprisingly I have no problem whatsoever anymore with Spotify. So I'm pretty sure now that it has to do with my provider in Germany, right?

Cheers and thank you all

Max

Appreciate the update and cooperation @Max190!

If Spotify is working with the data roaming in the other country that you're currently in, then it is possible that there's an issue with your mobile provider in Germany, so just to be on the safe side we recommend reaching out to them when that's possible for you to make sure everything's in order from their end.

Keep us posted and in the meantime, we're here if anything else comes up 🙂
