Current song won't play when I open the app offline

Current song won't play when I open the app offline

For the past 4 months or so, when I use spotify offline say in my car bluetooth or when I'm walking, the current downloaded song I'm on won't play. I press play and it shows as playing but it won't work and the bar that shows the length of the song doesn't move or change at all. To bypass this one thing I've done is to skip to the previous or next song and back which will then get it to work.

The only issue with this workaround is that after 2-4 times of doing this it will completely clear my shuffle queue and start it from the beginning. Often the new shuffle queue will bring up some songs that I listened to recently or even that same day. I have over 1400 songs in my main playlist and this makes listening frustrating and not enjoyable. I've tried with a smaller playlist of just 20 songs and the issues are the same. I have a google pixel 4a, android 13. No SD card, permissions enabled, no ad blockers, antivirus or vpn. Data saver disabled, plenty of storage space.

Things I've tried:

Clean reinstall

Refresh of offline cache (done by Spotify)

Using test accounts on my current phone and previous phone (issues exist on test accounts offline)

I'm in the process of searching for/looking to purchase a new phone but I don't want to purchase a new phone until I know there won't be issues with spotify on that phone. This needs to be addressed. Anyone else experiencing this?

Hi there @ThatAction27,

Thanks for the post.

Sorry to hear that this is happening with your app.

The issue is most likely related to your phone, since it keeps on happening when the support team has cleared your corrupted cache and when you've used another test account. We tried this on our end on two Android devices, but there were no issues with continuing to play a song once Offline Mode was turned on.

The issue might be connected to the way your phone stores cache, in which case there isn't much we can do from our end.

You can contact our Customer support team again and request that they clear the corrupted cache on your device again.

Hope this helps.

I didn't have this issue for the first year and a half + that I have had the phone though. I've had the same phone the past 2 years and it's only been the past 4 months that I've had this issue. I had no issues on offline mode but when it's not set to offline mode that it messes up regularly.
