Deleting downloaded podcasts

Deleting downloaded podcasts

I've created a few playlists with certain podcasts added to each. My work takes me out of cellular range so I download the episodes for offline listening. After listening to the I wanted to delete them from their playlists but receive the error message  "This episode is in your XXX playlist - if you remove it, that playlist won't be available offline."
I want to keep the playlist, just remove and free up the space from the episodes I have listened to. Why does removing a single episode have to make the entire playlist unavailable for offline listening?

Thanks for the help, Steve.

Hey @SoulCaptain,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We'd like to add some insights. It's expected behavior to receive the message you mentioned if you tap directly on the green arrow and if the episode is part of a downloaded playlist. No worries; if you tap the episode's three-dot menu> Remove from this playlist, you'll notice the episode will be removed from both the playlist and the downloaded content automatically. It looks like this:

On another note, you don't necessarily need to add the episodes to a playlist if you want to listen to them offline. You can download all the episodes you want, and they'll get automatically added to Your Episodes folder, which you can find in your library. The best part about this folder is that you can set an option to automatically remove episodes you've already listened to or after a specific time. The frequency of removal of episodes can be adjusted from the cogwheel icon in Your Episodes folder.

Hope this clears things up. If you have any questions or need anything else, the Community is here for you.

Is there a way I can delete multiple episodes at one time rather than deleting just one episide at a time? That's just ridiculous!

Hey @user-removed,

Thank you for joining the conversation and welcome to the Community.

If you have the episodes added to a playlist, you can remove them all at once using the desktop app. You just need to click one of the episodes, hold the CTRL key and click the other ones you want to delete. Once selected, release the CTRL key, right click on the selection and click the option "Remove from playlist"

In case you want to delete multiple episodes from "Your Episodes", as this is not an option available yet, we'd recommend showing your support for this idea by adding your vote with the "Thumbs Up" button. Any changes or updates will be posted in that thread.

More info on how your feedback reaches Spotify via the Idea Exchange can be found here.

Hope this helps. If anything else comes up, the Community will be here for you.
