I hope we're not running out of options there, that really was after an update (the one before the last, which btw didn't solve the problem), may I try to install the previous working version and how can I do that ?

Hi there, you can certainly try an older apk and see if it will help. There's a link in my signature to a repository of older versions.

Hi there. Can you try increasing the quality setting to maximum and see if the distortion still occurs

Hi, thanks for your reply!

Yes, same problem with highest set of quality...

How about a clean install. Make sure to use the guide linked in my signature.

Also check if you have an equaliser app, try disabling this.

Well have fun reading I guess

Description:
After one or two songs Spotify just stops playing (most of the times at the end of the song). The Error occurs on both of my Android devices. I've seen many threads and posts about this issue, but it still doesn't seem to be fixed.

What are the steps you took to get to the error/issue?
(We need to know what you are doing so we can do the exact same to try and get the same error)
1. Import songs
2. Playing them

What I expected to happen:
To play songs without having to press the next button all the time

Did you restart your device when troubleshooting in section B?
Yes

Did you read the connection troubleshooting tips?
No, but it isn't relevant.

Your device
OnePlus One
Nvidia Shield tablet

Device’s Operating System:
Android 4.4.4 on the OnePlus
Android 5.0.1 on the tablet

What type of account do you have?
Premium

Space left on your device:
Space left on your SD card (if applicable)
Around 50GB on my Phone
Around 2GB on the tablet

Space left on your External SD card (if applicable)
N/A for phone
20GB on tablet

Is your device rooted?
No on both.

Are you using a custom ROM, if so which one, exactly?
The OnePlus One runs CyanogenMod 11S but I don't think it's relevant

Did you set your external SD card as storage location?
No on both

Did you manually install an older version before installing the latest version from the Play Store?
No

Do you have the same issue when switching between WiFi/Mobile Data (If applicable)?
No, since it only happens to synced songs.

If you said "No", when does the issue not occur?
When i'm offline and online.

My mobile Spotify version:
2.2.0.636

My mobile provider and country:
Hi, The Netherlands.

My username:
Frietzakjee

Do you have a Spotify (non-Facebook) login?
Yes.

Are you logging in with Facebook or with your Spotify login details?
Tried both, but I'm usually logging in with Facebook.

Note:
I've literally tried everything. Deleting cache memory, both from the phone and from Spotify. Restarting. Logging in with Facebook and logging in with my username. Deleting the whole app and redownloading it.

Fix this, I'm ain't paying you for a music service that doesn't work.

Is the equaliser off? Sorry to say spotify but it is pants. It just distorts the music.

Fuwiz you should open your own topic.

No no equaliser... And I already tried a clean instal, I did it again, I even tried to wipe my cache in recovery mode but same thing...

I hope we're not running out of options there, that really was after an update (the one before the last, which btw didn't solve the problem), may I try to install the previous working version and how can I do that ?

It works ! I tried the first 2.0.0.702 and I don't have the issue anymore.

That's great. but it means there really is an issue with the new version... I'd be happy to help debug the best I can, as it should also affect other people...

That;s odd and strange that it only seems to affect you... I wonder if you can now try updating to the latest version and see if the distortion re-occurs?

I updated via Play Store to the latest version (2.3.0.828) and yes, same issue...

I'm really baffled why these later updates are affecting you, and only you.

Are you able to get a logcat of what's going on while you're streaming to see if anything may be interferring?

I'd be happy to but how ?

There's a very good guide on how to logcat on the xda forums here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1726238

Here's a log spotify filtered while streaming with the issue. Do you need a full log, with other apps ?

Yes a full log please so we can see what else is running and possibly interferring.... Also, just to check but when you run the log you are using the current version that has the issues in?

Could you run a second one with the previous apk as well so we can compare what's in the faulty one that isn't in the good one.

I use a iPhone 4s on the latest iOS and latest spotify update. Why can I hear distortion when I turn up the equaliser bars on the lower end frequencys? even when turned up ever so slightlly? It's the same issue on all my devices? PC, iphone the lot

I think it's a different issue Antjp-gb.

Here goes, same process each time : launch catlog, then swtich to Spotify and play for a few secs and stop log. I could hear the issue in the last version, the other was playing OK.

Nothing was strikingly obvious to me in the latest log. I'd suggest possibly trying without a headset connected, with WiFi disabled and also try turning Beats off.

The actual services & intents called seemed OK. I'm stumped.

Same thing with wifi disabled and no headset... I never turn Beats on, and it's disabled when using phone speakers.

Here's the log, don't bother too much if I'm one of few affected, I'll try the next versions regularely and stick to the working one 🙂
