Downloaded songs no longer downloaded after app update

When I update the Spotify app on my Android phone, all downloaded songs are no longer marked as downloaded. I have to download the songs again to my phone.

The updated app should be able to access the previous downloads and play them, but it does not work this way.

LG G5 with Android 7.0

App version: 8.4.46.575 armV7

How long has this been going on for? Does restarting your device after installing the update help at all?

Also, do you have any cache clearing apps installed to your device?

I think it has been occurring for the past year. Previously I had an iPhone
and did not see any changes to my download songs after app updates. I
switched to Android with my LG G5 in March or April 2017 and this has been
a recurring issue for a long time.

I use Avast Security Pro, but I don't use it's Clean Junk or Cleanup
features. I mainly use it for Boost Ram to address memory leaks. I'm not
aware of any other cache clearing apps on my Verizon phone.
