Force MP3 Playlist Sync

Solved!

Force MP3 Playlist Sync

I have Spotify on my Windows PC and Android phone.  At the minute, I create MP3 playlists from my local library of MP3s on my PC, then sync these playlists using Spotify from PC to phone.  To get it to sync a new or updated MP3 playlist, I have to close and force close the Spotify Android app then open it again.  Is there a better and more graceful way of getting the app to sync MP3 playlists ?

I've tried creating temporary playlists to force a sync but this doesn't work.

Here are the details:

Spotify for Windows version: 0.9.1.57.ge7405149

Spotify for Android version: 0.6.5.183

Windows version: 8.0 Pro

Android version: 4.1.2 on Samsung Galaxy S3 4G I9305

I tried to put the android app in the offline mode and then back to online mode. In this way it update the playlist adding the new songs.

Ciao, Ilario

ps: still, an update button would be great!!

I'm on Windows 7 with latest desktop client and android app on my Nexus 7 running android 4.2.

  • Spotify is open on my android.
  • I create a new playlist on the desktop client containing a selection of local files.
  • The new playlist shows on my android immediately.
  • I realise I had wifi turned off on the Nexus so I turn it on.
  • I open the playlist on the android and hit the download button.
  • Tracks synch to my android - I get a progress bar on android and the spinning arrows on the desktop client.
  • I go to fetch a beer from the fridge and on returning, the tracks are all on my Nexus.

If this isn't how it works for you, there may be an issue we can work on.

It works when you create the playlist. But if you add songs to a playlist already synch'ed, then the new songs are not downloaded on the android device. You have to let the android app disconnect from the internet (either by killing it or by switching it to a offline status). Then, when you go online again, the new songs are added.

Thanks ilario73. I'll try that.

Hmmmm.......let me try that.

Works fine for me. Adding tracks starts the synch process.

Thanks jwylot. Adding tracks doesn't initiate a sync automatically for us. Firewall and network could also be a factor. Both phone and PC connect to the same router, but phone uses WiFi and PC is cabled. I think maybe both WiFi is the recommended setup.

Ah. you could be right about the network.

Tried it and it does work.  Thanks Ilario73. 🙂
