My Question or Issue
Spotify is forever downloading 5 songs, no matter what. I force quit the app, reopen, and its off again. It actually isnt downloading anything, its just saying that. Forever stuck on the 3rd track out of 5, even tho everything playlist and album/song wise shows nothing is downloading.
The notification remains, never ever vanishing, unless app is forced closed.
Hoping this isnt using my data, wouldn't exactly be supirsed if it was consideringh how awful the app is.
Really shouldnt need to be posting here all the time.
Why do we continue to pay for awful services, that we in our own jobs, would never ever be allowed to get away with being so shitty at.. oh the irony!
Hey @hobbss
You should try deleting and reinstalling the app. Hopefully that'll fix the issue.
Also, try using a different network (WiFi) to see if it's not a connectivity issue.
Hope it helps. 🙂
Hey @hobbss,
Thanks for reaching out and taking some steps to solve this.
Let's try the following (it's important to do the steps in the exact same order) :
Let us know if anything has changed.
Thanks 🙂
Did not work.
Issue remains.
Now also cutting off music when the screen turns off.
Installed Tidal, got a Master subscription to test highest quality and app usage, Tidal works without issue. No downloading issues, no random music stops.
This is app specific..
Update: I turned off download over celluer, and the downloading notification remains. It is just forever stuck on downloading nothing.. the number of songs it is trying to download changes. sometimes stuck on 1, sometimes stuck on 2.
However, all playlists/albums show as downloaded and completed (green tick)
Hey there @hobbss,
Thanks for keeping us in the loop!
Just to confirm, did you remove all devices listed here? If your device is listed more than once in this page, this could be a duplicated cache issue which would explain why you're having troubles with your downloads.
Once you've done that, make sure to find Spotify in the list of apps of your device's settings, tap it and clear the cache and data. Alternatively, you can perform a thorough reinstallation of the app with these steps instead.
On another note, you mention that when your screen turns off or locks, playback stops. In this case, on top of the other steps, we'd suggest making sure that Spotify is set as an exception for any cache clearing or battery optimization apps (for example, on Sleeping apps) - there are some helpful solutions to help with this here.
Let us know how things go! We'll be right here if you need more help.
Have a lovely day 🙂
Issue still remains.
App is now randomly cutting off.. no reason.. just randomly stops playing music.
Have to open the app, and its just stopped for no reason, have to play again, looses its point in the track.
The app is getting worse every single update you make.. Literally worse every single time.
I myself am a developer, I also build hardware. So I know what I am doing.. its clearly compatibility issues or just a badly designed app..
Paid as a premium user for literally as long as you have existed..
Please fix your awful app, hire better developers!
Have followed every single thing advised, yet nothing fixes it.
Considering these issues have always happened on various phones I have had, its clearly the apps code.
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
