Help! Playing over Bluetooth resets my car stereo!

Help! Playing over Bluetooth resets my car stereo!

I have been using spotify since it came out and use it to play through my car stereo via bluetooth audio. It has worked extremely well and just this week the stereo started to misbehave. I first noticed it on 4/9/2014, but I hadn't used it in my car for a few days. I suspect it is related to the recent update pushed to android. How can I get this working again and not have my stereo reset?!

Steps:

  • Change to Bluetooth input on stereo
  • Play any song in Spotify
  • Wait about 5 seconds and the stereo shuts off (spotify pauses because it lost its bluetooth connection)
  • All radio presets are cleared, but the bluetooth pairing is still intact
  • Change to Bluetooth input on stereo
  • Play a podcasts via BeyondPod or song stored on the phone, no issue
  • Be sad because I can't use Spotify on my commute anymore 😞

Misc Info:

  • Spotify Version: 0.7.9.1169 (Premium subscriber)
  • Motorola Droid Maxx on Verizon
  • Android version: 4.4
  • 2011 Lexus CT 200h with stock stereo

I know this post is from 2014, but has anyone else had this issue?  Experiencing the exact same issue in 2018.  With a 2013 Lexus CT200h.... Help!

I'm also experiencing the same thing. Did anyone get a solution?

Haven't found anything, but I hav esince cancelled my Spotify subscription.  There is no point having a service I can't use in my vehicle.
