How can i stop spotify from using mobile data?

How can i stop spotify from using mobile data?

I noticed Spotify uses massive amounts of data skyrocketing charges from my carrier, despite having the data save on ... I am not happy with that.
I put the app in offline mode, but it still uses mobile data.
WTF? Is there any remedy for that?

Hey!

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community.

Here are some tips to reduce mobile data usage:

  • If you have Premium, download music to listen offline.
Tip: Make sure the app only downloads when connected to WiFi, switch Download using cellular off in the app’s settings (under Music Quality).
  • Check your Music Quality. Higher quality music uses more data.
  • Switch Autoplay off in your app’s settings. This stops it playing after what you’ve selected.
  • Use WiFi when using the app abroad. Check your mobile data plan to learn about roaming charges.
  • Your device may have its own data saver. Check the support site for your device.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

So switching off Download using Mobile Data in Audio Quality may stop Spotify downloading and updating playlists but it does not stop Spotify playing tracks that are not downloaded when only on mobile data.

I know I can switch to Offline mode but I do not want to do this each time I get in and out of my car.

Is there a way to stop Spotify playing tracks that are not downloaded without going offline each time?

Hi there @iwaddo,

Thanks for your reply.

If you're listening to unsaved and not downloaded content when you're using your mobile data, Spotify will play that content. You can prevent this by playing your saved/downloaded content when you're out. You can create playlists specifically for those times and download them. Or you can turn offline mode on.

Additionally, turn Autoplay off. This feature automatically plays similar songs when you reach the end of an album or playlist.
