How do I stop Android from detecting I'm using Spotify on another device

How do I stop Android from detecting I'm using Spotify on another device

When I play Spotify on a desktop or laptop computer or smart speaker, my phone detects it and shows it as the now playing thing on my phone. I don't want it to do this.

I could understand it if I opened the app, but it does it regardless. Is there a way to disable this? If not, please add a setting.

Hey @adebaser,

Thanks for posting this thread in the Community!

The way Spotify is intended to work is that you can listen to playback from it only on one device from the same account at the same time. Meaning that if you're listening to music on your computer from your account, you can't listen to music from the phone from this account.

The Connect feature, however lets you control playback from one device to another and you can read more in this article. Currently, it's not possible to disable Connect itself, however there's an existing Idea which you might like and in order to show your support, you can vote for it.

Seeing that you've posted in the Android section, it's worth mentioning that there's a way to enable/disable the ability to control Spotify from your phone's lock screen while listening on another device. Go to Spotify's Settings > Apps and devices > Spotify Connect control and toggle it off.

Hope this info cleared things up and we're here if you've got any other questions.
