Thanks for posting this thread in the Community and welcome!

Could you let us know when this started happening (if it was after something specific) and if you've already performed any troubleshooting steps so we can avoid repeating any of them?

Are the skipping buttons unavailable only when you're listening to podcasts or are you having issues with songs as well?

If you're using a launcher on your device keep in mind that this can cause performance issues with Spotify and I recommend that you check out this thread if that's the case. 

Let us know if there's anything else we can help you with in the meantime.

I already chatted like 1,5h with different support members but we didn't find a solution. They even gave me some test accounts. lol.

I've tried all the usual troubleshooting steps and also every possible change to the phone settings in terms of notifications, lock screen, etc. I also tried solutions from threads on this forum, including older ones that support gave me, Reddit and other Android communities.

I'm not using a launcher or anything else.

When I listen to music, the skip forward/back button appears.

I'm having the same issue! 

Actually, for a while (few months ago) I lost control buttons for all playback in notification bar and lock screen, regardless of it was a podcast or music. That being said, for music it fixed "itself", but I'm pretty sure that there used to be a "heart" button aswell. But I'm not missing it (metaphorically).

Yet lack of skip/back&forth controls for podcasts/audiobooks persists. 

Following instructions from similar threads, I cleaned cache & storage multiple times, performed both quick and full reinstall twice (in both cases with and without restarting my device before installing Spotify again) and enabled every permission available in settings. Nothing worked. I'm still missing controls in notification bar and lock screen.

It's particularly troublesome that this issue affects podcasts/audiobooks playback, since this is precisely where I often need to backtrack a minute or so to listen again, more carefully or simply want to skip corporate introductions before the actual story.

@Husmeister, could you let us know which troubleshooting steps you've already tried exactly? That way we can avoid repeating any steps. We'd also like to know if you were able to replicate this behavior with the test account. On another note, would you mind logging into your account on a different mobile device to check if the same happens? Lastly, sending us the OS and the Spotify version of your device would come in handy. 

 @MightyRillka, could you let us know if you're using any launcher on your phone? Also, could you let us know if this started happening after a specific event such as an update either of Spotify or the OS of your device? On another note, could you ask a friend or a relative to log in to their account on your device to see if they can replicate this behavior?

Troubleshooting steps already tried:

• Touch the Lockscreen Glock to get some Widget-options
• 2x New Login 
• 9-step manual clear Reinstall and delete Cache and storage Data plan (lol)
• Testaccount 
• 5-step un- and Reinstall while using Phone's App Center and Google Play 
• Checked Whether Spotify has all authorizations
• Checking für Updates in Google Play Store (No Update available)

Im already locked in this Trip of fixing for a few hours. Very annoying, you Feel me? I think a damn Samsung or iPhone wouldn't bring up these problems, but it is the way it is. I have an old Samsung Android at Home And can try there if the same problem occurs, but it has a different operating system etc. Apart from that, I have no possibility to test on another phone with the same OS.

Our tech team will investigate further. In the meantime, could you let us know if you're using any themes for your devices? If you're in Dark Mode, check if switching to Light mode makes a difference.

Hi, Eni and other Moderators!

I'm not using any launchers - just the plain Android with Xiaomi HyperOS (1.0.6.0.UKDEUXM) as I mentioned before - like it came with the phone, without any mods.

Since the problem has been going on for a while, I can't be certain if it was in any way connected to updates - either Spotify or Android itself. If it was related, it wasn't obvious enough for me to notice and/or remember. 

I checked with other account logged in on my device and the problem persists (see below screenshots). Navigation buttons are there for music and gone for podcasts.

Additionally, I checked what's going on with me being logged in on different device. Unfortunately, all I had to test it with was this no-name brand, very basic miniphone that I sometimes use as a music/mp3 player (all I could find about it was that it's named "F8 Pro Max" and runs on Android Version 8.1). It's a bare system, with everything uninstalled or turned off, without even a SIM card or e-mail. All three is on it is built-in music player, Spotify and one audiobooks app. And surprisingly, on that barely working device, my missing control buttons are there! Both for music and podcasts. 

I'm all out of ideas.

My Question or Issue

See title + screenshot.

The problem only occurs when listening to podcasts. With music, I still have the next / previous buttons.

It was working some time ago, maybe 3 months or something like that. I suspect there was a OS update that broke it for me but I'm not sure.

I tried a complete clean install of the app but it didn't change anything.
