My Question or Issue

This started a few days ago. While casting to a device, I can no longer click on any songs under popular while browsing an artist. When I click on the song, it does nothing. If I am playing music on the current device or to a bluetooth device, it works as expected. I can click on the play button while casting and it will start playing the popular song list from the top. However, If I want to start from the 4th song, for example, I have to skip my way there. Clicking on a song from anywhere else, a playlist or album for example, it works as expected.

 

I use the popular list quite a bit so I'm hoping someone has a fix for this issue.

 

Some of the things I've tried:

Rebooting the devices

Unlinking spotify from Google assistant and relinking

Uninstalling spotify, rebooting and reinstalling

Factory reset and resetup of the casting devices

Could you prepare a short screen recording of the described experience so we can get a better understanding of what is going on on your end?

 

We'd also need the Spotify version you've installed on the casting device.

Another way to reproduce the issue:

Start playing a song from an artist's popular playlist on the phone, then try to cast to a device, it wont connect at all.

Playing songs from albums or lists the casting works fine.

I'm using the latest sporify version from the store 8.7.66.534

here is a recording about the issue. I'm using hungarian on my phone, but hopefully its pretty clear anyway. casting from the popular list does not work, but works from anywhere else.  Video

My Question or Issue

So when we try to play an artist's popular songs while streaming on Sonos, it doesn't play. I can't play the song g from they album, but it doesn't play over Bluetooth (it also doesn't work with my ear buds.) very annoying issue.

Looks like Spotofy took away the ability to just press to play any song in an artists "popular songs" list. Now you have to click three dots, goto album, find song, play song

I am seeing the same problem with these phones:

Samsung S21 Ultra 8.7.68.568
Samsung A41 8.7.60.422

Samsung S8 (sorry no version written down)

Streaming to Roku 4k stick or Yamaha NP-S303

LG G8X as well as Ipad Pro are fine so it seems to be Samsung specific at least with me.

 

If I playback through the device itself, I can select and play popular songs of an artist. If I am connected via Spotify Connect, I cannot select any of the popular songs. Only songs outside the popular songs like in an album, are possible to select. Once I disconnect from Spotify Connect, I can select songs again.

Also, if I am currently playing popular songs, I cannot create a Spotify Connect connection. The status remains in 'connecting' state.

Yes.  Can confirm that the issue I described (spotif connect / popular songs not playable) is fixed.
