I downloaded music to my SD card but spotify keeps trying to redownload to internal storage

My Question or Issue

I left amazon because it kept messing up my downlaoded music on my SD card, now the same thing is happening with spotify. =( i have bought a new SD card, done multiple clean reinstalls, checked SD card for errors, etc. seems to do so when spotify restarts
I am poor and have a poor phone with very limited internal storage, and a huge music collection. storing on internal is not an option. need downloads for backpacking in the mountains
A feature that would have you confirm if you wanted to switch storage devices instead of it automatically doing so would fix the problem.

This issue is largely depended on your device itself. It happens when after a restart your phone clears app cache in which is stored where Spotify and other apps should download content.

Since you've already replaced your SD card and have tried regular troubleshooting methods, I'd recommend checking the solution offered by @lucasknie here. 

I'd also suggest you check your phone for any app that clears cache automatically. This could be any cleaner or performance booster app. Try switching off the cache clearing for Spotify.
