Issues with Samsung Galaxy S8

Solved!

Issues with Samsung Galaxy S8

Hello! I recently installed Spotify and quickly upgraded to Premium.

Since my upgrade, it seems as the Mobile App is "stuck" - any actions that take place on the app, such as liking new songs, pinning playlists etc. are impossible to achieve. Interestingly enough, if I play audio that took place before the app getting stuck, it works fine, both on the PC and Mobile App. But if I try like a new song, playlist or attempt to organize my online library, the app just does not acknowledge my action.

I have tried everything written in the community support - reinstalling, logging in and out, logging out of all devices, clearing caches, giving the app access to everything on my phone and allowing it to run in every mode, but it just won't budge. I have not downloaded any songs and I play all music through my WiFi and Mobile Data.

I feel helpless and I just got into the app. If this issue continues, I honestly don't see much worth of having Premium just on my PC. Thank you!

The issue is solved, but not in the way you would think - I have been using Facebook to login on all of my devices and I had to rebuild the profile, by adding a new email, password etc. At the moment, the App is not stuck, but I am yet to test whether it works together with my PC effortlessly. I am glad that I fixed it, but there was zero indication that the nature of my profile would be the cause of this issue. To other users, who might experience a similar problem to this one, here are some recommendations:
1. Make sure that your profile is fully set up - emails, passwords, verification - a simple Facebook login seems insufficent.

2. Allow the Spotify App almost full access to your phone (I will experiment whether I can limit it to what I feel comfortable with)

3. Be patient

Have a lovely day! Take care!

Hi there @Cannellouie,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. We'd like to investigate this further.

Can you confirm that you followed the steps that's provided in this article? There's some more steps to help thoroughly uninstall the app from your device, so if you haven't, we'd highly suggest it.

On another note, if you have an SD card we suggest that you uninstall the app > turn off your phone > take out your SD card > turn on the phone again (without the SD card) > reinstall the app since the card can be corrupted.

Hello Jeremy!

I indeed followed these instructions in uninstalling the app - my app was on the internal storage of the phone. I tried switching it to the SD card storage and that also did not seem to resolve the issue.

I will attempt removing the SD card as well, but since the problem began while the app was in the internal storage of the phone, I am not sure if that will resolve the issue - I will write an update if it does.

Is there any other information I can provide you with to help find a solution? I will wait for your advice!

Cheers! Thanks for the response!

Update: The app is in the internal storage and I only changed the download location earlier.

P.S.

It is worth mentioning that this was not an issue UNTIL I upgraded to Premium. It is possible that this occurs when the accounts in Spotify's database or something are not linked properly? I am not an expert.
