Keeps switching to play random album

Keeps switching to play random album

Spotify all of a sudden started playing music from a random album I've never played before. When I switch back, it only playes my chosen song for a few seconds before it plays the random album again. It's the same on my laptop. When I click pause on Spotify's chosen random song, it starts playing automatically again after two seconds without me pressing play. I have to close the app for the music to stop. I've tried re-starting my phone, uninstalling and re-installing the app and switching passwords.

Hey @kristinotto.

Thanks for getting in touch!

If you think someone might be messing with your account, be sure to change both your Spotify password and your Facebook password. Then, log out everywhere on your Spotify account page and your Facebook profile. (If you have your facebook profile and Spotify account connected)

If this didn't help, or it did but your account has been messed with, take a look at this article. There you'll find additional help 🙂

Hope this will solve the issue! Let us know if you have further questions.

Have a nice day.

Hi, so I have the same problem, on my phone, laptop and TV, and I was wondering if you fixed it somehow. I created a different account and I don´t seem to have that issue, I tried changing my password, restarting the app, re-installing the app and even restarting my phone and laptop . I have a premium plan, I live in Portugal and I have an iphone 11.

I would appreciate if you told me how you fixed it, if you did.

Thank you

Please please help me. The same album plays over and over and I'm going insane. Random stuff was showing up in my recently played for a while and I ignored it. Then today I couldn't use it at all due to an album called I Don't Care by Cyntthia Scruz playing over and over on a Chrome Web Browser. I don't ever play Spotify on a web browser. So i logged out of my account on all platforms, I changed the password, I switched the email, I went to facebook and changed my facebook password and I even disconnected my account from facebook. I've deleted the app and logged out many times and on both my laptop and my phone the album continues to play. I'll pause it and it will start again on its own, I will play a new song and it won't last for more than 10 seconds before switching back. I went to the artist and blocked it from playing and NOW I'll play a song and it will stop it and play absolutely nothing. The 3 vertical bars show up on the random album that I BLOCKED in my recently played on the desktop app as if it's playing it anyway I just can't see it or hear it anymore. I have premium and now have no ability to play a single song. I've read every Spotify and community resource and followed every piece of advice and absolutely nothing has worked. This right here is a hail mary, is there anything else I can do????? Please please help, I want my music back

This exact thing keeps happening on my phone too. It's happening with my premium account but it doesn't seem to be a problem with my other account. I'm pretty irked by it. I've tried everything I can think of but nothing seems to work.

If you notice any suspicious activity on your Spotify account, always follow the steps below first:

  1. Open the Reset Password form in a private/incognito window and create a new, strong password you haven’t used for another online-service;

  2. Open your Account Page, scroll down and click on SIGN OUT EVERYWHERE.

In case you still experience the same after performing these steps, we suggest you heat to this help page. Here you'll find useful tips on how to secure your account in case of unauthorized access. Additional info on how to protect your Spotify-account can be found here
