My Question or Issue

I recently got a new pair of headphones and the bass was a little too heavy, which made my ears hurt after a while. No big deal, since the Spotify android app (8.5.21.754) has a built-in equalizer, right?

The equalizer works great most of the time. However, every time I skip a song or move to a different part of the currently playing song using the progress bar, I get a huge volume spike (half second) which seriously hurts my ears. Doesn't happen if I just let one song play to completion and then allow the next song to start. But I didn't buy Premium to just let the songs play through all the time, I want to skip them every so often.

This is definitely an equalizer problem -- if I disable the equalizer, the songs play at a consistent volume. I don't want to use a third party equalizer since they all seem really sketchy and/or unreliable.

Are there any fixes or is this a known bug? It is really uncomfortable to listen to with these spikes.
