Local files do not work

Local files do not work

I want to start by saying that I did everything possible and still can not download the local files from my PC to my android.

Months ago, I didn't have problem downloading songs that did not exist in Spotify, but now that I changed my phone, I cannot do anymore.

I did everything the stupid site says.

I reinstalled the Spotify (both in PC and phone, making sure that I cleared all the cache), I cleaned my PC folders, I made sure that all the songs are in .mp3 format and I put a new playlist (in the pc spotify).

But when I enter on Spotify, on my phone and try to start the download, the song appears dark gray and says that it is not available.

I am a premium member and I have done everything I can.
Spotify don't support in nothing. They put a site with guedlines that didn't solve any problem. There is no way to contact with someone that works there.

I will be very impressed if anyone solves my problem, because this kind of bug and neglect from Spotify is ridiculous.

Hey @Maiesscor and welcome to our Community!

That's not cool and we'll help you out!

When you upload your local files, spotify will try to find a match with the metadata we have and if it finds it it will play the song from our catalog over the local file. In this case, it's possible that some of the tracks are being linked with a song we have available so it's playing that one.

In this case, we'd suggest changing the tracks metadata to see if this helps.

Let us know how it goes.

I am having the exact same problem, and no matter what I do the local files on my computer just will not switch over to my phone.

I have posted a solution for this on another thread:

https://community.spotify.com/t5/Desktop-Linux-Windows-Web-Player/Unavailable-local-musics/m-p/16058...

The crux of it is that your mobile must be connected to the same wifi network as your PC and your PC must be on with spotify open on both devices for you to be able to download the playlist.

Once the playlist has been downloaded you may disconnect from the wifi / turn off your PC and listen to the downloaded playlist freely.

The reason for this is that when you add your local music to spotify it is stored only on your computer, so if you try to download with your computer off there is no copy available for it to download.

If you are still having issues while on the same wifi network then I would suggest that you turn off your windows firewall and any antivirus before trying again. Same goes with mac.

If you are a linux desktop user then I believe this functionality is not supported.
