Music Stops Playing When Screen is Off

I have the Samsung Note 5 and have been experiencing problem with playing songs on Spotify (for probably 6months now) that aren't downloaded to my own playlist. Songs would just stop playing/streaming when I went to other apps (i.e. instagram, FB) while trying to keep playing music on Spotify. Songs that aren't downloaded would only keep playing if I kept my screen on on the app. 

I've tried deleting and re-installing the app multiple times and clearing cache/data without any resolution to the problem. This is only a problem when I use my cellphone to play Spotify (no problem on laptop). Can anyone help?
