My Question or Issue

I downloaded a MP3 file and added it to my laptop's spotify as a local file and it appears there and can play in Spotify on my Windows laptop. Due to the sync, I also see the local file on my android in a playlist however it is greyed out and unable to play. It works on the laptop, but not on the phone. Please advise.

Hey @SirSpiffy! Welcome to the Spotify Community. ^^

That doesn't sound cool.

If after adding them to the desktop app you don’t see them on your mobile or tablet, check the following:

  • You're logged in to the same account on both your desktop and your mobile or tablet.
  • Your devices are connected to the same WiFi network.
  • You have the latest version of the Spotify app installed (on both devices).
  • Your device's firmware is up-to-date.

Let me know if that helps, thanks! ^^

Peace

Hi Nico,

I believe I am following all those conditions. I see the song but it won't play on mobile. Thanks.

Did you download the playlist(s) containing the local files to your mobile as described here?

Yes, everything other than that file downloads. It remains greyed out.

Please advise on what to do.
