I have an Android 8.1 Radio in my van. Spotify and all features worked great. One day I was listening to music and decided to skip to next song. The sound plays for about half a second then mutes. Sound will not come back on until I hit pause then play again. No matter how many songs I skip the sounds plays for 1/2 second then mutes. Sometimes when I connect the radio to wifi, Spotify will work great then starts acting up again. I did a complete reset of Radio and Re-installed Spotify twice and still the same issues. I also tried changing crossfade etc.

I tried login out and back in and I still have the same issue. I am running Android 9.0 and spotify version 8.5.57.1164
Yesterday I had my wifi on and at that point I could skip to the next song without any issues. Today I did the same thing but it reverted back to skip to next song and volume mutes. I have to tap pause then play to hear music.
Did you resolve this issue in any way? I got exactly same issue as you and I can't find a solution for it anywhere.
I know some people had mute problems after 2-3 songs and there are some advices regarding that on the internet but it's not that.
Hey there @WhiskeyScene,
Thanks for searching for the answer you need here!
This issue has been investigated and fixed by the relevant Spotify team. If you still experience this, make sure you perform a clean reinstall on the affected device. This will get you the latest app version with all necessary updates.
If this persists, try disabling any power saving or data cleaning settings on your mobile device. Make sure you try this since such features can often prevent the app from operating at full capacity.
Keep us posted! We'll be here if you have any questions.
Same problem here..
Spotify 8.5.85.894, Premium subscription
Android 10, Rockchip PX5 S32F0 head unit
Tried logging out - rebooting device - logging in.
Tried uninstalling, reinstalling, cleaning all caches etc. nothing seems to help with the issue. Every once in a blue moon skipping doesn't mute the sound but 99% I will need to tap pause and play to get it going... Any ideas?
Hey @wckd,
Thank you for your post in the Community and the information you provided.
In this case we suggest that you perform another clean reinstall of the app.
If you have an SD card we suggest that you uninstall the app > turn off your phone > take out your SD card > turn on the phone again (without the SD card) > reinstall the app.
Keep us posted 🙂
Cheers!
Hi, just did another clean install, didn’t solve the problem... I don’t have an SD card either.
Hey @wckd
Thank you for your reply.
We recommend you do a ROM update for your Rockchip PX5 S32F0 and then restart Spotify on it once the update is completed.
Keep us posted 🙂
Cheers!
Hi @Jeremy
I'm facing the same issue, also with px5 and android 8.
The thing is that this unit is the one that originally came with car (model year 2020) and updating the ROM is not an option, it's a manually process and you need to search for the right ROM file and with a good chance that something with the car integration will stop work.
If there is some workaround for this I'll be very glad to hear.
It's something I cannot get use to and I'm listening Spotify all the time!
BTW, seeking in time in the playing song also causing a mute (till you pause/play)
Thanks in advance!
Isaac.
Yeah I'm still struggling to cope with this aswell. I reached out to the manufacturer of my device but the only response I got was "Dear friend our device does not support this spotify" so doesn't look like I'll be able to get a ROM update either.
Hey @ielbaz,
Thanks for searching for the answer you need here.
Could you please confirm whether or not you've tried a clean reinstall? This seems to have done the trick for some of the other users.
@wckd note that if the device manufacturer confirmed that the head unit no longer supports Spotify, this would mean that regrettably issues with its use are expected behavior.
Hope this helps. If something else comes up feel free to contact us again.
Android 10, Rockchip PX5 S32F0 is considered chinese aftermarket rooted device it's not official android device therefore you will have problems getting official google play signed apps .I'm sorry too tell you but they sold you clone android worth $0 in the real market .those units are great for educational purposes not for family wagons or Sunday car
