Music stops and a voice tells the time

Music stops and a voice tells the time

Hello everyone,

Sometimes when I listen to music with a headphone, with cable and no fancy control buttons, the music stops for a moment and a voice tells me what time it is. I generally have Google assistant turned of and no app does something like this. So I'm not sure we're to start looking, wether this is an Android thing, a Spotify thing or something else.

I'm using a Fairphone 3+ with a Spotify Premium subscription.

Hope anyone has a hint on what's going on.

Hey @SirGreeny,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

This is odd indeed. Let's take a closer look into it. In this case, what you can try to isolate this behavior is by reinstalling the app on your device. You can do it by following the steps in this article. This is a bit different than a normal reinstallation, as it involves clearing all Spotify app data and cache from your devices.

If that doesn't do the trick, perhaps the inconvenience described is not related to Spotify per se. It could be related to the permission your device has regarding, for example, TalkBack. TalkBack is the Google screen reader included on Android devices, with which you can open apps or switch between them. You can turn it off by following this guide we were able to located.

However, it's always a good idea to reach out to the manufacturer of your device as well, since they can also add some insights about what might be causing this.

We hope you found this helpful. Let us know if you need anything else.

Cheers!

Hi @AlejaR,

It didn't help at all! After few days of a normal playing, voices telling the time, skipping a song and shuffle cane back. I don't want to pay for a premium account when if I'm not able to use the app!!

Greetings

Barte

Hi there @73bart73,

Thanks for your reply in this thread and for trying out our recommendations.

Let's try something else. First, go to your Account Overview page and Sign out everywhere. Additionally, remove access to all the apps you've connected to your account from here. You can easily reconnect your apps anytime. Once done, log back in and check if that makes a difference.

On another note, this might be related to your headphones. Does this happen without the headphones? And could you try using different headphones to check if you experience the same behavior?

We'll be on the lookout!

We’re having the same exact problem in an old Samsung phone!

Hey @Dudetank38,

Welcome to the Community and thank you for joining the conversation.

Just to make sure we covered all the basics, would you mind confirming if you've already tried the steps mentioned previously by @Susan_GP

Also, would you mind checking if the voice you mentioned comes from the Spotify app or if it is from your clock or other app?

Lastly, since you mentioned this is happening on an old device, would you mind checking on a different device (using your own account) to see if it makes any difference? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out.
