No volume when playing via bluetooth in car suddenly???

No volume when playing via bluetooth in car suddenly???

Hey long time premium spotify user here.  Pretty tech savy and have always been able to figure any issue Ive had without much help at all.  I started having issues about 2 weeks ago now.  Ill start from the beginning even though Im not sure its relevant to the problem any more.  I mainly use spotify via bluetooth from my phone (galaxy s4) in my car (Ford Sync).  I used it just fine going to work one day and havent been able to get any volume since that day when I came out of work and headed home.  Prior to this my wife got her purse stolen with the bank card that was paying for spotify monthly.  I went beyond the due date waiting on my new card to arrive to update it with Spotify, but they never cut me off.  I received a on-screen message from spotify while listening via computer that I needed to update my credit card info within 3 days to avoid interuption.  I got my card that day and updated my info and seen that the card was sharged the same day...this was the same day it quit on me.

When I connect to sync via bluetooth on my phone it connects fine.  I select a track and it appears to be playing (via the track "duration slider" still advancing shown on my phone, but I get NO volume....if I disconnect from bluetooth it will play on my phone just fine....which made me think it was my phone or ford sync in my car.  However I can make phone calls and hear volume from the caller over my car speakers just fine....Ive tried rebooting the phone, removing the battery in the phone, deleting the phone from sync and re-"pairing" the devices, but nothing has worked.  I wanted to avoid deleting the app and reinstalling to keep from having to syncing, restoring all my music....again especially without knowing if that has nothing to do with my issue...Sorry to be so windy, really frustrated, and trying to be as descriptive as possible.  I opened a ticket with Spotify (2 weeks ago) and have yet to hear anything back since the initial auto-reply....Any Suggestions?  Your help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.  Daniel Adams

Hey @alicetooljam!

You should get an email very soon, keep an eye on your inbox.

Anyone here have any suggestions?  I was contacted, was told it was a cache problem, to delete the app, reinstall, resync....Did that, still no volume/sound over car stereo speakers via bluetooth.  😕

Can you try another clean install but following the steps on the troubleshooting guide at the top of the forum?

Ok, but I see nothing at the top of THIS forum...is it the one in your sig?

OK...so I did it again just as you said from your guide listed in your sig.  I still have NO sound.  Does support via email only operate during certain hours?  I havent heard back from them since 3:25pm (its after 9pm central standard time).

Additional questions:

Should "connect" be finding my car stereo system (Ford Sync) as a "device"? Or no because its connected via bluetooth?  I wasnt aware of "connect" until today since I mostly use spotify via bluetooth in my car and it hasnt been working.

Should I try with a different memory card? Buy a new memory card?

When was the "connect" feature added? Could this update have made something incompatible using bluetooth with Ford Sync?  I also find it ironic that the latest update was supposed to offer additional Ford Sync compatibilites....

After 2 weeks and 2 different wipes today, Im frustrated...Via bluetooth in my car IS what Spotify is to me...whole reason I went premium, cancelled satelite radio, quit carrying an ipod, etc.  Thank you for the help so far, any additional advice is greatly appreciated.

Daniel

My main use is the car as well so i understand your frustrations. Ford Sync works over bluetooth and is separate to the Connect feature.

Try a clean install without the sd card present. It may also be some other app conflicting or a system bug... Last resort would be to try a factory reset

Hey alicetooljam,

We'd like to investigate the issue you're having a bit more.

In order to do it, please post here (where possible):

Make and Model you are running the app on
Android version and is it stock or a custom ROM (if you are unsure, then it's probably stock)
Your current Spotify version (Settings > About > Version)
The device which you are using as the audio output
the Bluetooth Stack versions of both phone & receiver

Have you tried to delete Spotify, clear cache, remove the SD card, install Spotify again and insert the SD card? Let us know if it helps.
