Non-shuffle playlists on Spotify Free play in shuffle anyway

My Question or Issue

 Playlists without the blue shuffle icon allow me to select specific songs to play, which is expected. However, after a song finishes in one of these playlists, the next song played isn't the one after it. Instead a random song from the same playlist plays. The playlist is still playing in shuffle mode. This shouldn't be happening, right? How do I turn shuffle off in these playlists?

May I ask if the shuffle feature is disabled? The shuffle icon shouldn't be green on your play screen.

I’m having the same issue, but I can’t toggle shuffle as 🔀/🔁 were replaced by ❤️/⛔️ (see screenshot).

I am on free, as was the OP. This doesn’t change the question.
