Now playing view closes when adding to playlist

Solved!

Now playing view closes when adding to playlist

When I listen to some music (eg. in the car, while cleaning, etc.), I like to go back through what I've listened to and add some tracks to different playlists. Initially, I could do this by adding a track to the playlist in the "now playing" view, swiping to the next song, adding to playlist, and so on. Recently, there seems to have been a change that causes the "now playing" view to close as soon as I click on "Add to playlist", meaning I have to click on the now playing song to bring it up again before I can go to the next song. It's a small inconvenience, but it adds up and gets very frustrating when I've got a fair bit of music to go back through.

Hey,

Thanks for getting back to us.

We've tested this on our end and we could reproduce the behavior. We've forwarded this to the relevant team here at Spotify, however, we can't confirm when it will be addressed. In the meantime, please note that you can swipe the minimized Now Playing view to change tracks.

We hope this helps.

I am leaving this comment as a note that this is not related to the new (+) Plus button change. So please do not merge this post.

It was mentioned here that they still have the Heart button, not the (+) Plus button.

Hey there folks,

We appreciate your time and reports on the Community.

Usually, when we merge posts, we do it for easier tracking of feedback/issues. If for any reason you believe your post is not matching the thread - you're always welcome to flag this as you have done here.

@Yo-C, In this case, we'd like to gather as much info as possible. Would you mind letting us know what troubleshooting you've tried so far? This'll help us avoid repeating steps.

Additionally, we'd like to see how this issue looks on your end - a screen recording would be highly appreciated. This way we can get a better understanding and advise you further. As for your previous post, we assumed you have the (+) symbol.

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Hi,

I have tried restarting my phone as well as reinstalling the Spotify app.

I would show a screen recording if I knew how to do that. Basically, when I click "Add to Playlist", the "now playing" view minimises as the "add to playlist" menu appears.

Hi,

I would also like to hear if you have made any progress in the matter, as I've also encountered this and I've gone with it for a while but its getting quite annoying when sorting all my songs. It takes double the time and I don't see the purpose of this feature.

Thank you!

Hi there @Fish27,

Thanks for your reply in this thread.

There've been some changes in the app since this situation was reported. So just to check, are you experiencing the exact same behavior mentioned by the original poster? Could you send us a detailed explanation of the situation? If possible, send over screenshots or a recording. You can attach it in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public.

Additionally, let us know the make, model, and OS version of your device and the Spotify version you're running.

We'll be here.

Hi Fish27,

I wish I could be of more help. This issue was fixed for me seemingly from an update. All I can suggest is to make sure you have the latest version of Spotify installed or try a clean reinstall. It's hard to know what else to do because I didn't change anything on my end when it was fixed.
