Odd Visual Delay in Spotify App

Odd Visual Delay in Spotify App

I'm experiencing an odd and frustrating delay in the Spotify app. When I am playing a song and want to skip to another song it keeps the last song's title and album cover going. Let's say that you are in the video player and decide to skip five songs. The sound will correctly update, but it looks like it is playing another one of the previous songs. I attached a screenshot to help explain  Although it is showing Unchained Melody, it is playing a different song. I have already restarted my phone and completely uninstalled/reinstalled my Spotify app. Any help is welcome.

What device, operating system, and Spotify version are you using? Did you notice this start to happen after an app or OS update? 

 

Does this happen over both WiFi and mobile data? Also, when you reinstalled, did you follow the exact steps listed here?

I'm having the same problem.

I'm running spotify on Android version 8.0.0 on an LG G6, Spotify version 8.4.66.733. 

I've had Spotify for over two years and it just started happening after the latest update. I have done a clean reinstall per the instructions provided and I'm still having this issue.

 

It appears to only happen when I'm not connected to Wifi, and it affects my playback whether I'm using data or  previously downloaded tracks.

 

As mentioned in the original post, the track information for a given song will display while the next track in the queue is the one actually playing. I've also noticed that if you stop skipping ahead in the queue, eventually the correct track information will populate; However when it finally loads, playback stops completely.

Does the cover art refresh if you exit the Now Playing view and go back into it? What about if you switch over to a different app and come back to Spotify?

Yes, switching apps will correct the problem temporarily. Switching from now playing doesn't help though; the playback bar at the bottom of the app locks up when this happens and it's only fixed when you exit the app.
