On foldable devices, different resolutions can affect the display effect of the app's pages.

On foldable devices, different resolutions can affect the display effect of the app's pages.

On foldable devices, different resolutions can affect the display effect of the app's pages. As shown in the figure below:
When the large screen enters the song playback page and then folds to the small screen, the page layout becomes crowded and even unusable.

Hope the App can be well compatible with foldable screens of different resolutions.

Hi there @liya2025,

Thanks for reaching out. We'll be glad to investigate this behaviour for you.

We haven't seen any other reports about this exact behaviour, but we have seen similar issues with UI elements being out of place on devices with unconventional aspect ratios, so perhaps it has something to do with that.

So that we can investigate this in depth, could you please provide us the following:

  • The exact makes, models and Android version of your affected device
  • The exact Spotify Version you use.
  • Is this on all devices or only on this one? Is it only on the external screen or the main one too?
  • When did this start happening? Did it work before some point?

With this information, we’d be happy to investigate.

Keep us posted.

Hi,
1.This issue exists on foldable devices such as the Samsung Fold4 and HONOR Magic V3, as shown in the left image on the Magic V3.
2.This has nothing to do with the Android version or the app version. The problem has always been there.
3.The issue only appears after switching from the large screen to the small screen.

Additional information:
You can test on foldable devices such as Google Pixel Fold, Samsung Fold or Honor Magic V3.

Test steps:
1. Enter the song playback page on the large screen, then fold the screen to the small screen and observe the page display effect. The page will be slightly compressed, like the screenshot on the left in the post.
2. After changing the resolution of the device's internal screen through "adb shell wm size 2172x2352" on the device you tested, the problem as shown on the right will be reproduced.

Please pass the problem to your internal R&D team for investigation. Could you provide an email or WhatsApp for technical communication?

hi,

Can Spotify's R&D team optimize and solve this problem?

Hey @liya2025,

Thanks for all the info! We've relayed it to the right folks 🙌🏼
We'll let you know here in case any other info is required or when we get an update on our end 🙂
Keeping you posted!

hi ,Is there any update from spotify team regarding this issue?

Hey @liya2025,

Thank you for your message.

This is still under investigation by internal teams. As requested previously by @Joan, would you mind including in your next response the OS version of the devices you've mentioned and the Spotify version they're currently running? This is for the relevant teams to have the full info to investigate it further. Thanks for understanding.

We'll be waiting for your response.

Just adding to this as I experience the same on my Pixel 9 Pro Fold running Android 15, build no BP1A.250305.020.A2.

If there is no Canvas, album artwork overlaps the "playing from" info.

hi friend,
What happens to the application's page when your device folds from a large screen to a small screen? Will the page overlap, become disordered, or be unusable?

I have same issue on my foldable device,

It’s hard to imagine that so much time has passed without seeing Spotify make improvements.

Pretty much unusable when folded after being in unfolded mode on the now playing screen.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for posting in this thread!

This is still being looked into by our teams. To help with the investigation, it would be great if you could send us the info mentioned earlier by @Joan (if you haven't already):

  • The exact make, model and Android OS version of your device.
  • Current Spotify Version.
  • When did this start happening? (if you noticed it changed after any specific point)

Feel free to also include a screenshot/video showing how things look from your end. Just make sure it doesn't include any personal details.

@halfpennymcfc - kudos for sending the device info! Would you mind letting us know the Spotify version as well?

We'll keep an eye out for your replies!
