Pausing closes top bar access

Solved!

Pausing closes top bar access

Using an LG G4 with Android 6.0 marshmallow and now every time I pause my music by dragging down the notification bar or through the lock screen, I have to re open the app to resume my music. Which in turn means I can no longer play music when opening other apps that cause Spotify to close, like Pokemon Go or other games... Is there any way to fix this? I've tried reinstalling Spotify multiple times, I've checked all the permission settings I can, I've even down graded to Spotify 6.2 in attempts to fix it. Nothing's working...

@Inugohan that's weird,

  • first i'd suggest you uninstall the app, restart your device and then re-install.
  • next, you can sign out of all devices here.

to re-install on android cleanly

Go to System Settings

- Go to "Apps"

- Find Spotify there

- On Spotify's page, first, tap "Force Close"

- Then tap "Clear cache" if it's not greyed out.

- Then tap "Unninstall" and remove the app.

- If you can, remove the battery now. Power back on.

- Using a file manager on your phone or with your USB cable and your computer, go to Internal Storage > Android > Data and delete a folder called com.spotify.mobile.android.ui

- Reinstall Spotify from Google Play

let me know if that resolves your issue!

@Inugohan no worries, i'll send you over to spotify support while you troubleshoot

the quickest way to contact spotify directly is via here or support@spotify.com

if you let them know in as much detail as you can your problem (OS, spotify version, how you're connecting (i.e. wifi), how long you've had this issue, and the steps you've taken to resolve it - they should be able to have a look on their end and sort this out ASAP ^-^

hope you get a speedy resolution and let me know if you need help with anything else!

Hi, I also had that problem, it turned out to be an app called 360 security.. it may be some other optimisation app that manages your notification bar. Make sure you have notifications for spotify enabled

Thank you for you're reply! I was able to follow it perfectly and some of it I hadn't even tried yet. But unfortunately I'm still having the same issue... It seems to only be on this phone so I'm guessing my next step is to factory reset it and if that doesn't work maybe try to rollback my android version or something. Just thought I'd see if anyone else was having this problem and if maybe I just need to wait for it to get patched out with the next update. That said, I've tried apks as far forward as 6.9.x and things just got worse, as in nothing showed up in the top bar or lockscreen at all...

I m pretty sure it is connected to the same bug mentioned here:

https://community.spotify.com/t5/Android/New-Lock-screen-and-Bluetooth-problems/td-p/1494342

You loose access to bluetooth controlls too when this happens. Also if i get a call while listening, spotify wont pause correctly and will still blast music while i am trying to talk.

Please suggest a solution to it.

That's it! 360 Security. I'm using One Plus 2 Android and had the same problem with Spotify being turned off when pausing. In 360 Security App you can enable all the apps you want to see notifications from. My Spotify for some reason was switched off.

Thank you!
