Playback is no longer pausing when removing headphones

My Question or Issue:

Playback is no longer pausing on removal of headphones from the jack. This is occurring on both the full Spotify app and Spotify lite app. I have other music player apps that still behave as normal, playback pauses on headphone removal, and I have not changed any settings or the OS has not been updated. The only thing that has changed is the Spotify apps have updated recently, now playback is continuing when the headphones are removed.

To start with, can you check this article out and make sure that you've allowed Spotify permission?
