Playlist has hidden songs that can't be deleted on android

Playlist has hidden songs that can't be deleted on android

I have playlists that when I edit them have 10+ tracks I didn't add to it on them - but they are only visible when editing they playlist they don't come up when playing it.
It only happens on my Google pixel pro 7 and makes it really hard work to move songs around, my friends who collaborate to the same playlists do not have this issue, but I have It on my private playlist and my collaboration ones.

Hi there,

Welcome to the Spotify Community!

Sounds like these are old local files that are no longer available. The reason they aren't visible on the mobile app when viewing the playlist is that you most likely have toggled off Show unplayable songs in the app's settings.

In any case, you should be able to remove the songs from Edit view. If that doesn't do the trick, you can use the desktop app instead and navigate to a song, click it to highlight it and press the Del / Backspace key on your keyboard.

If you were referring to something else, please share a screenshot which shows how things look on your end so we can investigate further.

Cheers 🤘

So this is how it looks just normally looking at it...

This is how it looks when editing despite deleting them alllll the time, but it's only on some playlists and only on android - doesn't happen on desktop or ipad only on my Google pixel pro 7 and Huawei p30 pro.

Thanks for the screenshots @Jjp0.

Just to confirm, does toggling on Show unplayable songs in the app's settings cause the extra songs to appear (you should be able to remove them from the playlist from the three dots menu)? Feel free to share the playlist here so we can see how it looks on our end.

I can also see that you have downloaded the playlist. Could you try un-downloading it > editing the playlist and removing the tracks > downloading it again to see if that does the trick?

Let us know how it goes.

Hello, I am also having this exact same problem, and activating/deactivating the unplayable songs toggle does nothing because in my case, at least, all the songs are playable. I have verified this when adding the playlist into a new one; all the invisible songs become visible inside the new playlist and remain invisible in the old one. And deleting the download before editing did not work, the deletion is not saved, for some reason. I also noticed while editing that the page is discerning these invisible songs as if they had been added by Spotify, like with the other user, there is the username under the title, and then there is just Spotify under the title of the invisible ones, the difference is that my playlist is not currently collaborative.

Hey @__m__,

Welcome to the Community and thank you for joining the conversation.

This type of issue could be related to the privacy of the playlist. So, if you have your playlist Private, we'd recommend setting it to Public (or vice versa) by following the steps mentioned in this article to see if it makes any difference.

Also, would you mind confirming if you've performed a clean reinstall of the app? If not we'd recommend following the steps mentioned here.

If the issue persists, we'd recommend keeping using the new playlist you've created as it has all the songs not currently available on the previous one.

Hope this helps. If anything else comes up, don't hesitate to ask.

It is working normally again! I'm not sure what worked, since I tried a few of the solutions in many orders, until I finally got an error message saying that the app couldn't save the edit to the playlist, which wasn't what I wanted but it was new, so I just left it alone and when I checked it again it was back to normal. But definitely thank you for answering!
