Hello, this morning I started listening to music as i regularly do. However, when i tried to shuffle play my playlist, not a single song in it actually played, and the song that started playing isn't in the playlist and generally a different song from one of the artists on my playlist that i do not have saved (and in some cases is from an artist that i do not listen to). This just started happening today and i wanted to know if there was a fix.
----- If it helps , this happened on an android device using the free version of Spotify
Hey @iamamerp
Not sure if this is why that is happening, but the free version works differently in the mobile app than it does on the desktop app.
If you do not have premium, on mobile, you get ad-supported, shuffle-only access on compatible devices. This means:
Just head to any playlist, album, or artist page and press SHUFFLE PLAY. Your music will begin playing right away.
The thing is though that it just started happening this morning, normally what would happen is that i would shuffle play and a song in my playlist would play and then a suggested song would load up. But since this morning, when i tap shuffle play the first song that plays is suggested and when i look at the line up it says one of my actual songs is next. However, when one of the songs from the playlist is supposed to play according to the lineup it never does.
I am having this issue. I have figured out what is causing it. In the most recent update if you hit shuffle play on playlist it plays the "Playlists radio" on shuffle. The playlist radio is auto generated based on the songs in your playlist and may or may not include your playlist songs. It's SO STUPID because the old behavior was that "Shuffle play" would just shuffle the playlist which actually makes sense. A work around is to play any song in the playlist and then make sure the shuffle playback button is selected by the play button.
I am pretty pissed they would change the behavior of the shuffle play button and not let you change it back in the setting menu. It's moronic.
If you have a setting "autoplay" in spotify settings, try turning it off.
Hi @iamamerp and everybody! Thanks for reaching out. Could you let us know a few specifics? We'd like to find out:
- the exact device, OS, and version of Spotify that's being used.
- if AutoPlay enabled/disabled: https://support.spotify.com/us/using_spotify/searc
- when exactly this started occuring for you.
Keep us posted, we'll see what else we can suggest.
Thanks,
Jack
I'm experiencing this issue too with spotify free on my galaxy s6.
I'm also having this issue. I can't even just select the song I want from the playlist. All I get is **bleep**ty random music not even in my saved music. If this keeps up I'm switching to Google music even though I've been with Spotify for years
I’m having this same problem. Listening to morning acoustic, the next song that comes on is rap music. Can’t figure it out. I go back in, select the next song on the playlist and t changes again as soon as that song is done.
