Pressing Pause Disables Play Button on Pixel Watch 2

Pressing Pause Disables Play Button on Pixel Watch 2

Devices: Pixel 2 Watch (version 13), Pixel 6 Phone (Android 14)

Steps to reproduce:

Open Spotify app on Pixel watch 2

Choose something to play

Play through phone

Click pause on watch

Note that all music pauses and play and skip buttons become disabled. Only option is to go back into your playlists and choose something to play again. If I go to my phone, I can click play and it will continue playing from where I had paused the music.

It seems clear that clicking pause is disconnecting the watch from the state of the phone. Note that choosing previous or next does not have the same effect.

As a user, I would like to use my watch to pause and subsequently play my music from the place I paused it.

Hey @ggoodman2,

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community.

We'd suggest that you try to log out > restart your device > log back in to check if it makes any difference.

It's also a good idea to perform a reinstall of the app on your watch. We recommend this step since it gets you the latest app version and removes corrupted data from previous installations that could be causing issues with the app's performance on your device. Make sure to restart your watch once again in order to give the app fresh start.

In case the issue persists, would you mind posting a quick video of your experience? This way we can get a clear idea of what's happening on your end. You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. If the attachment is too big - we'd suggest that you upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

Hope this helps. If anything else comes up, the Community will be here for you 🙂
