Question about the data.

Question about the data.

Hello,

I'm using spotify on android 5.1.1 with an xperia Z3 compact.

And, I think, when I use spotify, I use too much data. For exemple, when I listen a song wich is 4minutes, I use 16mo of data.

For me, it's not normal, because I listen in normal quality, and 16mo only for one song it's too much right ?

What do you think about it ?

Thanks.

Help please !!!

Hi there.

I understand you have problems with Data usage.

When your data plan is capped, you need to reduce usage to minimum. If you don't have Premium, then you can't use Offline option. Offline works this way: once streamed, never again.

96 kbps => 0.72 MB per minute.
160 kbps => 1.2 MB per minute.
320 kbps => 2.4 MB per minute.

So 4 minute track is about 4.8 MB in 160 kbps or 9.6 MB in 20 kbps. So your app is suing too much data.

Try to reinstall it. This might help.

Kind regards.

Jyrziu xd

I reinstalled it.

The first song I tried was 2min41sec, and I used 10mo. Then, for a 3min25sec song, I used 16mo, then for 4min10sec, 40mo.

I don't undertand why. I'm not premium, I put the quality in normal.

Maybe because I'm in 4g ? It use so much data.

If your connection is fast, Spotify also download next song before current even ends. Streaming always consuming a lot of data. Especially on Free, where Offline mode is not possible, also surfing in the app consumes data (all cover images etc).

I didn't know that spotify download next song before current sont is not over.
It's for this reason so.

So, my data consume is normal.
