Hi community,
I'm encountering a bug sync playlists to my SD card on Spotify for Android. The message 'SD Card removed unexpectedly' appears after sync has been running for about 30 minutes. This means I cannot sync playlists to SD which is a serious issue for me. It has also corrupted the SD card which needs to be formatted.
I have tried formatting the SD, deleting all spotify app data, reinstalling spotify and using a different SD card. All do not work. Someone help ! 🙂
Spotify 0.6.6.270
Android 4.2.2 (not rooted)
Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-i9505
Cheers
Tom
I think you'll find this is a reasonably common problem and suggest you contact Samsung support for advice on what to do.
I have this problem frequently, every second or third time i open Spotify. It appears to erase all the data from spotify from the card, as i can verify by looking at the folder tree and finding the data under spotify on the card is empty. It doesn't erase other non-spotify data from the card. This is clearly a spotify compatibility issue.
Please help.
This is not a Samsung problem - it's definitely a conflict with the Spotify app. I'm just about ready to start searching for other streaming options.
I'm sure that the spotify app puts the external SD card under a lot of stress but why do you think it is a spotify problem? What phone, android and spotify versions are you using. Also exactly which model of SD card are you using and which file system is it formatted in?

Do you have spotify running on pc?
Are you sure you havent unchecked the playlists from syncing on the pc app?
saw this on youtube
. Go to settings and press on Storage.
2. Then press Unmount SD Card. Allow the phone to process.
3. After it finishes making it safe to remove, open your case and remove the SD Card from the Slot.
4. Reinsert your SD Card in the Slot.
5. Restart your phone. Use phone as normal and see if problem is solved.
I can confirm, that this is NOT a Samsung problem, as I have the same with my HTC One V.
I'm running Android 4.0.3 and HTC Sense 4.0
I experienced the following behaviour:
1) The problem "SD Card unexpectedly removed" is only appearing while syncing playlists. It does not occure when in Offline-Mode.
2) The problem occures as soon as I leave the Android App. As long as I am in the App, everything is fine.
3) The problem occurse as soon as my phone locks, even while in App. As long as the screen does not lock (swiping up and down), everything is fine.
4) When the problem occures, all downloaded data has been removed and need to be redownloaded again.
To solve the issue, I have to remove the SD card from my phone and reinsert it. I also have to restart the Spotify App as it keeps saying, that it can not find any place to store data.
I just downloaded App Version 1.5.0.739.
I just deleted the cache and data (which took nearly 5 minutes)
I set it to download in "Extrem Settings".
I will try now to download a few playlists (194 tracks).
Download is running, switching to WhatsApp. --> No problems yet.
Locking phone --> No problems yet.
And after about an hour, all 194 tracks have been successfully downloaded.
As I deleted the cache before without any success, I assume that the update fixed the issue.
EDIT [27.09.]
Was happy too early... just downloaded another playlist and *boom* SD card unexpectadly removed... oh come on, I just want to listen to music while in the Gym... that sucks!
