SD storage Xperia Z1 128GB card not working

Solved!

SD storage Xperia Z1 128GB card not working

OK first of all I'm a very experienced user (15 years in IT) and have read through every single step and topic that I could find regarding this issue but I can't seem to solve it..

Description

Spotify can not download to the SD card, but always goes to internal storage

What are the steps you took to get to the error/issue?

(We need to know what you are doing so we can do the exact same to try and get the same error)

1. Formatted SD card

2. Uninstalled Spotify

3. Assured no leftover data was left (in Android/Data)

4. Cleared cache

5. Powered down phone

6. Powered up

7. Reinstalled latest version of Spotify (1.1.0.113)

8. Upon running & downloading off-line content it is stored on internal storage, not SD

What I expected to happen

Content should be storing on SD

I have solved it eventually

I removed everything from the SD-card (all my photos and videos etc) which was a right pain

Reformatted the card

Uninstalled Spotify

Used Total Commander to remove remnants as instructed

Rebooted the phone

Reinstalled Spotify.

Didn't work.

I cycled through this about 4 or 5 times and eventually it started working like magic

I feel it's very frustrating that Spotify does not allow you to configure this option in settings.

Have a read of the other recent (today even) posts in the android section regarding external SD cards and android 4.4.2.

Have you been able to solve this problem? I am having the exact same one. I try to download several playlists on to my 64 GB SD but for some reason spotify wants to save them on the phones memory. Plus it says its full when it really isn't. That must surely be a bug or something.

What do you think??

Please reply, I really like my spotify and am having a terrible headache fixing this.

Hi. I'm using a 64GB ok. Have you tried a clean install? Make sure that when you do the SD card had more free space than your phone memory.

Hi,

Yes, I erased the whole app and installed it from zero. The phone is brand new so it has about 12 GB of free space, and the SD card has a little more than 43 GB. That should be doing the trick, but I keep getting the same error. I am now downloading the latest sony software to see if that does the trick, but so far no luck.

What other options do you think I could have?

I have been having this problem since I got my Sony Xperia, but also had issues with my previous Motorola.   It works and then my screen goes black, and then I thought maybe was because was trying to search for wifi . ..so turned it off and using my data , and still didn't seem to make a difference.  It is SO frustrating when you want to listen to music

on your way to work, and doesn't actually work until you get there. Hmmm and makes me question why i am paying for something that doesn't work. Oh yeah because i have a ton of music saved and can't download it . Good times
