Samsung S9 + Android Pie: Offline songs redownloaded after turn off

My Question or Issue

I have a premium plan and I have my offline songs downloaded on my sd card.

I've recently updated my phone's operating system to Android Pie, now when I turn off and then I turn it on all the offline songs are deleted and then redownloaded on the internal memory of the phone, as if the memory card had been removed.

After that I always have to move them to the sd card memory, how can I resolve this problem?

Thanks

Same issue, I just moved my music onto the SD card, but when I restarted the phone it switched back to internal storage and redownloaded my whole library. Super annoying, I bought a large microSD card specifically for Spotify so I could download whatever I wanted.

  • I' m italian and I have the same problem. I had s9 plus Samsung with Android pie and now I have the s10plus Samsung but the issue didn't go away. The technical support wasn't able to help me...

I'm having the same issue on my samsung device running one UI on android Pie. It's very frustrating having to redownload every other day 😕

Hey @antodam21,

Thanks for reaching out to us!

Please try the following steps:

  1. Enable permission for storage option for Spotify. This can be accessed by going to Settings>Apps>Spotify>Permissions>Storage.
  2. Remove all devices for offline listening.
  3. Do a clean reinstall as explained here.

Keep us posted 🙂

I may have found the solution to your problem. If you go to storage analysis on samsung phones, there's a hidden option called auto delete or something that deletes cache and unnecessary files when you sleep at night. This may have caused all the spotify songs to get erased every day.
