Spotify Bluetooth connection only when other apps are on

Spotify Bluetooth connection only when other apps are on

I am running Spotify on a ZTE Awe (N800) (Android 4.1.2) , but I see the same problem on an LG F3 and F6 (with 4.2)

Spotify does not play any music in my car (Toyota Sienna) even though the bluetotth connection is working. It just displays PAUSE.

But if I start any other streaming app (for exmaple if I stream a radio station) then Spotify starts working too!

With the fantastic result of two overlapping music streams!

If I stop the second app, spotify stops too.

It is  as if spotify cannot open the bluetooth channel by itself but if another app does it  then it will tag along (pardon the less-than-techincal explanation).

Any ideas?

P.S. On my old old LG Optimus V running Android 2.1.2 (!) I have NO PROBELSM WHATSOVER and Spotify is running smoothly

Please read the guide linked below for details on the most common issues and how to fix them. Usually a clean install is the first step to take and resolves most of the usual issues; the guide details the steps to take to ensure a full 'clean installation' is achieved - This includes checking redundant folders and a REBOOT!

The Complete Guide is the first thing I followed and it did not seem to help.

But, to be sure, I will start all over again and will post the results.

Thank you.

Hello again.

I am sad to report that a clean install has *not* resolved my issue.

I still get Spotify trough my car radio *only if* another music app is running.

Note that I do not have any problem with Spotify crashing, just with the music not coming out via bluetooth.

I also tried to install the old version which is runnng fine on my Android 2.1, but with no luck: same problem.

Any other idea?

I suspect another app on your phone is hogging the hook to the bluetooth audio out service. Can you try uninstalling any other music players you have on your phone and give it another try?

What phone do you have BTW?
